The photo is from another website’s article about the story, but illustrates the utter entitlement of these people complaining that there are now double yellow lines there to stop them ignoring the HC and dangerously parking on a junction…

Cameras to catch parents parking illegally while dropping off their kids at school could be installed across Bristol under city council plans. Councillors will meet on Thursday, December 5, to decide whether to introduce a trial of CCTV that can automatically read drivers’ number plates.

A report to the transport and connectivity policy committee said enforcement was difficult for many reasons, including the fact traffic wardens could not be at all 160 schools in the city and that drop-off and pick-up times were very short.

It said: “Increasing the number of civil enforcement officers is not a cost-effective solution, so officers have been exploring other technical opportunities. Camera enforcement is heavily restricted by legislation, but parking on ‘school keep clear’ markings, providing they are supported by a traffic regulation order, is one of the few [interventions] which can be enforced using camera technology.

Comments on this seem pretty sensible – normally it’s carbrains losing their minds at the idea of somewhere to live that doesn’t involve car ownership. I would like to introduce “drive into the countryside” Sevenoaks folk to sprawl, though.

Man gives up on electric car after charging ordeal

A motorist who was told he could not charge his electric car outside his house said he had been left with no choice but to sell it.

David Kelsall said Oldham Council had judged that charging cables would pose a trip hazard outside his home in Hathershaw, Greater Manchester.

After six months of wrangling, the retired mechanic said he had sold his vehicle because the “cost and worry” of using public charging points – where he said he did not feel safe – had caused him so much stress that he felt ill.
