In a year, we produce about

In a year, we produce about double what we use.  The solar panels (one of the cheapest bits of the system) have a maximum output of 5 kWh.  We just fitted as many as we reasonably could on the roof. The battery, (which was about half the cost of the cost of the install) is also 5 kw capacity, so gives you 2-3 hours’ supply in the evening after generating has stopped.  Its maximum charging / discharging rate is about 2.5 kWh.

I think you’re consistently using kW-h when you mean kW, and vice versa.

Solar panel output is in kW for rate, or could be kW-h per day, which is again a rate (power x time / time.)

Battery capacity is in kW-h for how much it can hold, although there will also be a rating in kW for how fast it can charge or discharge, which is sometimes stated in terms of “C”, where 1xC is fully charging or discharging in an hour.

I just remembered I have Garmin tracks for all the running around on SeaDoos we did that weekend. We were definitely in and out of Canadian waters (east of the thick brown line.)

I must ask andy, what drinking laws?

If you’re on the US side, anyone on the boat over 21 years old can be drinking, but your captain can’t be over 0.08% BAC. Michigan is actually more strict on this than a lot of US states.

On the Canadian side, you can’t even have alcohol on the boat unless it has a permanent stove and toilet (and hence is a houseboat) and the boat is stopped and anchored. Nobody on the boat can be over 0.08% BAC.

We’ve spent all day on the water crossing back and forth. It only matters if you land. Canadians like to take their party boats to the American side because the alcohol laws (other than the drinking age) are less strict in the US.

    There are definitely places
There are definitely places you could walk across with a low chance of being caught, and I’ve heard stories of farmers who repeatedly drive their equipment back and forth across fields which bridge the border.

Everywhere that I’ve ever crossed, there has been border control, and it’s taken seriously, but I’ve always been on a main road.

Earlier this year, it made the news when they changed the rules and stopped allowing people to walk across the border on the Pacific Crest Trail.

It goes about three car lengths in 20 frames.

    3 * 4.5 m / 20 frames * 30 frames/s = 20 m/s = 72 km/h = 44 MPH

I thought you’d hit yourself on the top tube when it failed. Anyhow, sorry for your loss.

It used to be a few days for me, now it’s a week exactly on my phone or my PC.

I suspect it’s regional. I’m in the US, but when I was in the UK for three weeks last year, my phone never got logged out.

I wonder how often they would

I wonder how often they would accept the excuse, when a driver rear-ends another car or a motorcycle on a dual carriageway, “oh, he was in the left lane and I was safely passing him on the right when he suddenly jumped into the right lane in front of me.”

I’ve ridden the bits of it in Illinois: about half of the Hennepin Canal trail, and most of the I&M Canal trail. I look forward to riding the whole thing when it’s completed for my 150th birthday.

Day 0, we did a bonus 56 mile round trip for a tire dip on the western edge of the state. Mostly unloaded, our camp was already set up at this point.
