Good thing it wasn’t a cyclist with high pressure tyres. They’d have sunk to the centre of the earth!

So someone’s going to crash into the building because they didn’t know there was a turn there?! I could almost understand going down the driveway, but the reason not to drive where the building is, is that there’s a building there, in front of you, visible, and definitely not a road. Roads are seldom vertical.
Another resident who did not wish to be named said: “I didn’t know there was an accident, I hope everyone is alright.”Great reporting, interviewing someone who knows nothing about the incident. They might as well have interviewed someone in Australia.
CCTV shows moment vehicle almost flipped after smashing into parked car and leaving scene I’ve read the comments at the bottom and it seems to be that it isn’t the fault of the driver; the parked car is to blame for being parked on the wrong side of the road. I must also point out that I can’t see that the parked car was wearing hi-viz or a helmet, they were just asking for trouble if you ask me! https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/cctv-shows-moment-vehicle-almost-25067183%5B/quote%5D
The struck car did not appear to have been left with its parking brake on.

Exactly. Otherwise
Exactly. Otherwise pedestrians would have to treat marked crossing points differently depending on if it’s reasonably close to a roundabout exit or not. Imagine teaching children how to cross and having to explain this distinction.
Of course, as a pedestrian I’m still not going to trust my life to drivists stopping, nor teach children (mine are grown now, fortunately) to do so.

Unnecessary complication. Try some flat pedals and you can move your foot around as much as you want. If you’re spinning up a hill, you’re unlikely to pull up effectively.

When the rear seats are folded forward, there’s usually a metal loop that serves as the catch for the latch. Sometimes it’s on the seat, sometimes on the car body.

I’m not sure that “four in ten” and “almost always” mean the same thing.
Six in ten were, presumably, not drunk.

Have you not noticed that as the tide rises, the ducks somehow stay just on top. Not possible unless they’re somehow causing the tides.

On the trail sections of our group rides, we’re constantly having to call out “post” so someone doesn’t hit one. On the other hand, we don’t really want cars on the trail.
A friend of mine hit the one you can see here on the adjacent trail. He went off into the wood and was very banged up, with huge cuts on his shin that took weeks to heal.

andystow wrote:“The cyclists take delight in zooming past pedestrians as close and as fast as possible.”This seems unlikely unless they’re teenagers trying to impress their friends. Do you have some insight into their mental state that most people wouldn’t, or do they laugh maniacally as they pass?
Let me clarify as of course I’ve been misinterpreted. I’m not denying that the person who started this thread got hit by an inconsiderate cyclist, nor that she gets passed by cyclists at speed and distance that she finds uncomfortable. I take issue with what I quoted in italics because:
- She has no way of knowing that they’re taking delight in it.
- Who the fuck does that? Anyone who did would crash daily. Crashing hurts.
