A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

There is a small auxillary tip near me that has a pedestrian entrance and lots of pedestrian painted ‘corridors’ to walk on.

It’s just more car brain everywhere else.

Cornwall Council’s own Suez crisis. Resolved.

PS. Any recycling centre/ council tip I have ever visited is swarming with ‘drivers’ who have got out of their cars and miraculously transformed into ‘pedestrians’ as they dispose of their rubbish.

    Millionaire caught speeding

Millionaire caught speeding by controversial A390 Tregolls Road camera THREE times

He was caught speeding THREE times by the same controversial speed camera – but says taxis are too expensive, despite his vast wealth

Although the speed camera is still controversial (I’ll see your controversy and raise you a notoriety), here for a change is a judge not granting a driver’s exceptional hardship claim, 105 yo mother notwithanding.

    Dover District Council

Dover District Council refuses application for 17 homes in Wingham, near Canterbury, as protester told to leave meeting

Protester Mark Gardiner, of the Wingham Conservation Group, told the committee: “We are going to have to be certain this crossing is safe for thousands of future crossings, by pedestrians who may not pay attention, mothers with prams, people in wheelchairs and children on their own.

“This is the only available pedestrian crossing route to and from this development, next to a notorious and dangerous road junction.

“The safety of pedestrians is in the sole hands of this committee.”

Nice to hear of road safety getting an airing, even if I’m mightily cynical as to why it’s at the top of some people’s agenda. The application was refused against officer advice so await the appeal, I guess.

Yours worked wonders, but if you insist, I’ll hop to it…why the need for extra police? Did the fire brigade bottle it?

Anyway, yes the fire brigade were called, but turned up too late to be of help.  The Press Officer joked that while the local firefighters were normally quick to go wherever there was beer on offer, “unfortunately this time they got lost en route, having taken a wrong tun”.
