A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Neighbours are demanding the removal of a barrier – after being left unable to park outside their own homes. They have accessed their Talke properties via a private road for decades.

But the Unity Way land was sold by Aspire Housing four years ago and a barrier has now appeared blocking vehicular access to the private road and car park. It leaves one resident unable to access their own drive and another cannot reach their garage.

‘I spent months fighting £25 parking penalty’

Only it seems this chap does actually have reasons why his permit lapsed, and possibly council failed to send a reminder – fair enough:

    BBC wrote:
Mark Toplass has a brain injury, which causes memory loss and he relies on reminders about everyday activities like bills and car payments.

    … but then we read:

    BBC wrote:
Mr Toplass has now cancelled his parking permit as he “doesn’t want to go through the rigmarole”, and will instead park on his own driveway, which he previously left empty so local children could play football on it.

    More questions than answers.

    I doubt Clarksons ad even

I doubt Clarksons ad even went as far as the ASA, it was all a marketing stunt from the start, and worked perfectly as he didnt have to pay for any of the free advertising its got since.

BrewDog of course dont have a column in a major national newspaper from which to promote their stuff, so they do actually have to attempt to release it as an ad first.

    which is an interesting

which is an interesting defence, as I remember its frequently cited in one of those war on motorist articles the press like to run, that Rule 97 of the Highway Code states that drivers should ensure their clothing and footwear don’t prevent them from using the controls correctly.

Less great to know that they

Less great to know that they seemingly haven’t bothered paying attention to what’s actually been agreed, though:

“Parking remains free for civic hall users”

Great to know that if you

Great to know that if you have the wealth to run a car, Didcot Labour are in your corner.

NPC cameras to enforce ‘unfair’ new Didcot parking fares

the decision to introduce car parking charges at the civic hall.

“We believe this move is both unfair and unnecessary, especially during a time when so many families are struggling with the rising cost of living.

“Charging residents to park when using a vital community hub like the civic hall is simply wrong.”

    Harry Potter actor in peril,

Harry Potter actor in peril, drivers might be fined £5000 and Jeremy Clarkson sneezes seem to be the clickbaits de nos jours.

In case you hadn’t heard, shock revelation that all publicity is good publicity:

Despite his colourful lament that the “fun police in their beige offices” had stifled his magnum opus — an ad featuring a choir of 34 farmers belting “F*** me, it’s good” to the tune of Delibes’ Flower Duet — the Advertising Standards Authority and Clearcast have both stated that they never received the ad in the first place.

Why Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘banned’ beer ad is marketing genius

Would love to know if the 34  who took part were paid. I’d be feeling a bit deflated if I hadn’t been and it was all a stunt.

Finally, I’m confused, is it now etiquette to take a drink and say “fuck me, that’s good”?

Its the well worn strategy of

Its the well worn strategy of Brew Dog – do something controversial, get your head of marketing to complain to the ASA, then get in the papers by doing a big press release about the fun police complaining to the ASA. Completely self-generated. I remember something in Private Eye where they noted how many people complaining to the ASA about Brew Dog just happened to have the exact same name as the director of marketing at Brewdog.

Devon man ‘punished’ for trying to park at train station

Rail passengers at Tiverton Parkway say they’re being unfairly fined after being forced to park outside bays due to full car parks—sparking a growing backlash over rail-side infrastructure failures

Chris said: “It seems to me that GWR’s failure to provide adequate parking at a major rural railway hub and APOCA’s habit of regularly issuing parking fines to travellers for simply trying to catch their train might be a newsworthy story.”

The rear view of that secondhand Hunt Forest Gator shows where the plate is supposed to be, not hidden away underneath on the chassis. The other advantages for Lancashire owners are the immunity from numberplate and seatbelt laws and exemption (legitimate or not) from MOT

Chaos as day-trippers overrun Welsh beauty hotspot in heatwave.

It was reported that numerous cars were parked illegally along the Llangower shoreline blocking residential driveways and preventing farmers from accessing their fields.
