In the video, the black Audi appears to be driving at some speed along the sand as stunned beachgoers watch on. It’s unclear at this time what the driver’s motives were.

More evidence of MPs ignoring traffic laws. It only makes the news because these particular MPs were caught trying to avoid punishment by getting the tax payer to pay the fine, but how many MPs get FPNs and it never makes the news?

This nonsense has made it into several newspapers, but I’m sticking with the local rag Cornwall News covering that well known West Country town Holme-next-the-Sea. 

Boomer receives council letter. I felt the story was interesting because I thought motors were part of who we are now, no sense complaining, fella’s got to do his job etc. He doesn’t exactly say “I’m prepared to go to court over this”, but he sounds pretty dug-in.

It’s not a spot I know; I can think of some quite old town centre pedestrianisations and I’m not convinced that the full-on approach is best. But cars will be crap where ever you allow them.  

People are poorer/ have less disposable income  (I won’t go into why), we all know about on-line (although some trades don’t seem to have worked out what they can do to fight back).

I think of some town centres where there’s been some environmental enhancement in the centre, but the whole place is cut off from its surrounds by a combination of (i) the local river (ii) relief road / iffy underpasses (iii) string of iffy car parks – particularly after shop hours. 

I just wonder whether allowing cars again here is going to be the shot in the arm the traders are imagining.

My first reaction (OK, after wondering about his intentions) was to visit this forum and see if it had been mentioned. You didn’t let me down. 

Out ‘ere in the shires we also have got our share of miscreants. In the last couple of days:

• Police in Telford stopped 55 vehicles 18 drivers reported for a multitude of offences and 6 seized for no insurance.
• Also in Telford – firefighters called out after a car “rolled into the doorway of a property on all four wheels” after a collision in Donnington.
• Speed enforcement in Ludlow – “a large number” of drivers to be reported for excess speed plus 11 in nearby Munslow. *
• Fire crews were called out at 1.18pm on Monday to a van on fire in north Shrewsbury, caused by caused by “the wiring from additional leisure battery in the vehicle. Advice was given to the owner of the vehicle.”
• A 4-vehicle collision at a roundabout on the A5 near Shrewsbury at around 8am on Thursday was cleared by 9.55am.
• Air ambulance called to a single-vehicle crash on outside a primary school in Malinslee, Telford this morning.
