A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

    And pavement.

    And pavement.

That paint is really proving to be an impediment to their lawbreaking, isn’t it…

As you’d expect, some of the comments have nothing to do with the driving

I just came here to post

I just came here to post exactly the same story. Anyone who refuses to name an offending driver should be brought to court and made to repeat their refusal under oath, which would then place them in contempt of court, which then would mean that they would be detained in prison until they decided to change their mind. What the hell does multimillionaire Noel Gallagher care about a £1000 fine and six points when he doesn’t even drive?

Musician Noel Gallagher must pay more than £1,000 for failing to tell police who was driving his Range Rover.

The 56-year-old former Oasis star, who cannot drive, was also handed six penalty points.

He refused to give information relating to the identification of a driver when required by magistrates earlier this week.

Listen Up, while the story might Fade Away, isn’t this a greater issue here? D’You Know What I Mean? If a car can be registered to someone who doesn’t hold a licence and doesn’t intend to hold a licence, Some Might Say that there is a loophole which allows people to speed without it impacting on their licence. Whatever the outcome of this case, I think something needs to be done but i don’t have The Masterplan

A bit strict. After three pints and a curry, I may fail this test sitting on my bicycle!

Sorry, shouldn’t that be under “Non-drivers and their problems”?

I’d  be in favour of CAZs etc being a layer on Google Maps.  I’d be in favour of drivers being able to receive a text message if they were due to pay a charge.

The Euro classifications listed in the criteria don’t mean anything to me:
“Euro 4, 5 and 6 petrol vehicles, roughly 2006 upwards
Euro 6 diesel vehicles, roughly end of 2015 onwards”

    https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/streets-travel/bristols-caz/charges-and-vehicle-checker

Approaching from the M5 south, you’d have to drive quite a long way around 3 sides of a rectangle to get into the CAZ; if you’re coming from the M4 and went M32, you’re literally in the city centre – and what sort of petrol old banger are you running for it to be an issue at all?

You can put your reg number into https://www.gov.uk/guidance/driving-in-a-clean-air-zone and it’ll tell you which zones to be careful of.

Personally, I think the allowed amount of pollution is way too high. I propose an alternative measurement scheme – leave your car running in a normal sized garage for 30 minutes with the driver sat there and see if they can survive the fumes.
