A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Holidaymaker fuming after £100 fine writes song about parking firm

Grant was so annoyed he decided to poke fun at the parking operator with a song

On August 30, they drove down the road to Trevone Bay but after checking out the beachand the menu at the local cafe, the couple from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, decided they’d rather return the next day.

Grant said that a month later he received a letter from St Columb-based Alliance Parking saying he owed £100 for leaving his car at the Trevone Bay car park for 11 minutes, even though he did not end up staying there.

    Guildford was an occasional

Guildford was an occasional Saturday shopping visit for me in the 1990s (going shopping was actually a thing back then, kids) and I remember a traffic-free High Street, but a very car-ey walk there from the station.

Guildford high street is closed to traffic at the following times:

    Mon-Fri 11am – 4pm
    Sat 9am – 6pm
    Sun 12pm – 5pm
    Bank holidays 9am – 6pm

    Customer fury over penalty

Customer fury over penalty charges at Tesco superstore car park, off Caird Avenue in New Milton – won’t be shopping there no more klaxon

Another mother told how she could not understand why she had been penalised for using a parent and child space with two children aged eight and 15.

“I won’t be shopping in Tesco no more,” she wrote. “I would understand if I had parked in a disability space.”

https://www.tesco.com/store-locator/new-milton/caird-ave – hmm, no information there about parking rules and restrictions like the ages / number of children you need to be toting use the parent & child spaces.  I think if I were Mr Tesco, I’d be tempted to wash my hands of all of it, other than the 3 hour limit.

Any seasider no that the tame seagull is no such thing and is merely awaiting the chance to eat your sausages or fish & chips as you glance elsewhere for a second or two; or your eyeballs, if you stay still long enough.

A greater blackback gull may even eat your children – whole – if you let it into the playroom in the hope that it’ll agree to being a pet! I have noticed them eyeing-up bairns in prams as the mothers queue for an icecream at the beach kiosk. They eat puffins on the wing whole so could certainly manage a small dog or even a mid-sized cat, if they can avoid the claws and teeth. Them poor bairns are defenceless, though.
