Bit of a long read, this but it sounds like this mother has driven from Plymouth to Exeter with her baby and didn’t have anything for the little mite with her.

Malicious notes left on car windscreens in Herefordshire

What is the law on leaving nasty notes?

Leaving aggressive notes on car windscreens can land you in hot water, with Dominic Wyatt, an expert from the International Drivers Association (the what-now?), warning last year that “leaving a hostile or abrasive note on a vehicle can now result in a fine in the UK. Civility and propriety should not be discarded when addressing parking concerns.

In my experience, civility and propriety go out the window once someone sits in the driving seat of a car…

That driver does understand that you are not supposed to park across a dropped kerb providing access to what appears to be a small car park, yes?  Or is that to make a point because they can’t park in the bollarded off scooter space?

We actually have one in my city since a few years ago. Our stormwater tax applies to all properties, residential or business, and is based on the impermeable area which includes buildings and concrete or asphalt driveways. Mine amounts to a bit over $60 (£45) quarterly for about 22% of my ~12000 ft² / 0.25 acre / 1100 m² property being impermeable. You can get discounts if you add significant water retention features.

We have a “combined sewer overflow” problem where a few times a year during heavy rain, an untreated combination of storm water and sewage goes into the major river that flows through town. The federal government (EPA) fines the city for each event. The tax is intended to fund fixing the system so that this doesn’t happen any more, but I haven’t seen much progress yet.

Don’t get me started on water companies pumping sewage into our waterways!

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think that meant people would be driving all over it, round children playing on the sands, and actually driving down to the sea to watch their children playing in the waves. We even had to get round a car that was attempting to do donuts in the sand. You find a nice spot to sit down with your family and build sandcastles, and within 10 minutes you are surrounded by cars!”

    Carbrains, eh?
