Trek Time Clock

A clock that fits onto your bike: who needs one of those? That was my first thought when shaking the Trek Time out of its box and wrestling it onto the bars. But I've changed my tune. I'm really quite fond of the Trek Time now, and for your about-town bike it makes at least as much sense as a computer. Probably more.

The clock itself is a waterproof unit that clips into a chunky plastic mount; standard and oversized versions are available in black, green, purple, blue and orange. there's no tools required, it just clips on and stays put nicely. The set button for the watch is a bit fiddly - I had to use my teeth to pull it out - but once set the watch has a big friendly dial that makes it easy to check the progress of your commute against clocking-in time without having to worry about all the other data a computer will amass. You just don't need those numbers on an urban/leisure/family ride, but it's nice to be able to keep track of the hours, and the Trek Time looks natty on the bars.

We've had no shortage of rain to test the waterproofing and it's a big thumbs up on that front. And that's all there is to say, really. It is just a clock, after all.

Verdict

I was pretty ambivalent about the Trek Time to begin with but it's become a bulbous bar-mounted buddy. You can pick one up for about a tenner online, and it's a better investment for your town hack than a bells-and-whistles computer.
