London Cycle Exchange launches

Newly launched service for buying and selling pre-owned high value performance road bikes

London Cycle Exchange is a new service that aims to provide peace of mind when you’re buying or selling an expensive second hand road bike.

With the rise of stolen bikes, it can be tricky making the right choices on places like Gumtree and eBay. London Cycle Exchange hopes to address this. All transactions are with the Exchange directly and they’ll have full proof of a bike's history and origin. They’ll back this up with their own Cycle Origin Guarantee, providing assurance of provenance, security and mechanical worthiness.

For someone looking to sell a bike, London Cycle Exchange claim to make the process quick and easy, ensuring you get a fair price, and they can even arrange collection. For buyers, there's the knowledge that all listed bikes on the website have been vetted and inspected with the added peace of mind provided by the 3 month warranty.

All the bikes listed on their website have been thoroughly inspected by a Cycletech accredited mechanic and they're covered by a three-month warranty. For sellers, the process is quick and easy with LCE ensuring they get a fair price and their bike is collected free of charge. They’ll also be partnering with cycling shops and touring companies to offer ex-demo bikes as well.

There’s already quite a few bikes on there for sale. For example, they currently have a clean 58cm Cannondale Six going for £1,000, which was originally purchased from Evans Cycles in 2010.

David worked on the road.cc tech team from 2012-2020. Previously he was editor of Bikemagic.com and before that staff writer at RCUK. He's a seasoned cyclist of all disciplines, from road to mountain biking, touring to cyclo-cross, he only wishes he had time to ride them all. He's mildly competitive, though he'll never admit it, and is a frequent road racer but is too lazy to do really well. He currently resides in the Cotswolds, and you can now find him over on his own YouTube channel David Arthur - Just Ride Bikes
