Anyone who has sat on a jury knows that prejudices are not left at the door and that evidence can count for little when you get a small room with members of the general public. The general public can be bloody horrible and deliberately obstructive at times.
Oh God, not again. RIP.
Is it, as a matter of law, open season on cyclists? Because, what with having children and all, I'd kind of like to know.
For anyone who doesn't want to do a search: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4596378/Lorry-driver-49-mowed-25...
Sorry that's a DM link, but it explains what happened.
Sounds like he just close passed her to death. I don't understand the verdict.
I'm sure I read somewhere (possibly on this site) that there was cctv footage and witnesses? if that's the case, how can nyone be found not guilty? and also should there not then be a trial for obstruction of justice for his lying to the police?
Very sad news
Presumably he reported the details of this mysterious car?
Did he decide his delivery was more important than his witness statement?
Road violence is widely accepted, tolerated, excused and in some cases wholly embraced on UK roads.
We shouldn't be surprised to read this particular story but until each and every one of us is prepared to collectively and intelligently fight the powers that be all we will ever be able to ask is...which of us is next?
Ive said it befor and ill say it again. It is now legal to kill cyclists if you say you didint see them.
WTF!
From what's been reported of how this awful incident unfolded, it seems appalling that the jury returned this verdict. But perhaps not surprising.
RIP Madga.
