Victoria Pendleton lines up alongside stars from other sports in new Adidas ad

Spot for miCoach smartphone app features Jonny Wilkinson and Andy Murray among others

Fresh from advertising Hovis Bread and Gatorade, World and Olympic Champion Victoria Pendleton is set to star in another commercial, this time alongside a whole host of British and international sporting talent, for a smartphone app developed by Adidas under its miCoach range designed for people who use running as part of their training regime.

The 60-second spot features Pendleton alongside British sporting talent including rugby union’s Jonny Wilkinson, heptathlete Jessica Ennis and tennis player Andy Murray, plus overseas stars including Spanish World Cup winner David Villa and New Orleans Saints running back, Reggie Bush.

The app, free to download to BlackBerry devices as well as the Apple iPhone and some iPod models, enables users to turn their GPS-enabled phones or media players into a personal coach, giving them vocal encouragement and advice as they strive to hit their training schedules, which can be tailored to specific sports.

The launch of the app is being supported by a campaign drawn up by 180 Amsterdam, including a 60-second film featuring Pendleton and the other sports stars, highlighting the athletes undergoing pre-season training in a range of settings, and besides anything else, confirms the cyclist’s growing profile beyond the world of cycling.
