Video: Huge crash at Scheldeprijs as Kristoff continues winning streak

Katusha rider won again ... but there was carnage behind him

Katusha's Alexander Kristoff continued his terrific run of form yesterday as he claimed victory in Belgian race, the Scheldeprijs.

But behind the Norwegian, there was carnage as a huge crash brought down dozens of riders.

It happened with less than a kilometre to go, with aerial pictures showing several riders going shoulder to shoulder ahead of the line.

Astana rider Andrea Guardini and Lotton NL-Jumbo's Tom Van Asbroeck came together, both hitting the ground, and setting in motion a concertina effect that others behind them couldn't avoid.

Just looks like lousy bike handling. They are supposed to be professional bike riders, they really should stay upright in that sort of situation.

yeah, you should go round all the team buses and tell them that, sure they'll be *delighted* to get your input ..

It's the Scheldeprijs - there's not always a crash, but it's not uncommon. There's a really tight left turn in Schoten town centre, I seem to remember that claims a few scalps. But they do call it the "Sprinters World Cup", they all get excited towards the end, and the infamous Belgian Ditch Magnet likes to get involved too ...

The Astana rider was looking for a space that wasn't there, it looks to be his fault.

And by "came together" you mean traded shoulders and elbows, then both came out losers.
