Video: Beware of the Dog! On-bike footage from Tour Down Under

Moment when French poodle almost took out FDJ's Jeremy Roy captured by bike cam...

We're going to be seeing a lot more on-bike footage from the pro peloton in 2015, and in the first WorldTour race of the year, a camera captured the moment a dog almost brought down a rider.

It happened just after the finish of Stage 1 of the Santos Tour Down Under this morning. The dog in question is a miniature poodle, the rider Jeremy Roy of FDJ.fr - luckily, the owner yanked the pooch back just in the nick of time.

Even before that, the video shows at times the nervousness of the peloton as it shakes off the winter's cobwebs.

If Velon, the joint venture formed by some of the sport's leading teams last year, has its way, on-board footage will eventually find its way into TV broadcasts - no bad thing, we reckon.
