Barn Cross comes to the UK (+ video)

It’s kind of like cyclocross. But in a barn.

DC Cycles have announced a three-date series of ‘Barn Cross’ races this winter. The events will take place at Quob Stables Equestrian Centre in Durley near Southampton on a course featuring berms, rollers, gates and more. The organisers promise ‘a fun and action-packed evening of racing in a relaxed indoor environment’.

This may seem a little vague, so if you’re wondering what Barn Cross is all about, they’ve helpfully provided a link to the video below. If this is a true reflection, the sport appears to lie somewhere between cyclocross and a low-grade version of Jackass.

It’s quite possible that much of the footage was gleaned from the drunks race – which will be one of four race categories in the UK events, along with 18-30, 30-40 and over 40s, with 20 places available per category.

The first races will take place on the 6th of December with two more events to follow on the 31st of January and the 28th of February. You can sign up and find more details here.
