Well, well under. I did 24 minute miles last weekend hiking on steep off-road paths carrying a 35 pound pack. Earlier in the day, 16:33 per mile with no pack. On flat ground, 800 m is probably seven minutes.
Here's 18 minute miles, up a decent hill, with my less fit brother.

The car makers and their ads. This is what I don't get, without claiming to be any sort of Mother Teresa, having either worked all my life in public service or sold bikes in holiday jobs - if you're not aiming generally at doing good (or at least not harm) in people's lives and/ or leaving the world a better place than you found it, then WHAT ARE YOU FOR?
It's selfish greed as popularised by Thatcher amongst others
Ah yes, One of capitalism's most useful useful idiots. - the reason why we have crap water, crap public transport and try live out the fantasy of domestic energy competition.
She seems to embody the selfish greed thing, it became emblematic but I still wonder to what extent she actually created it and whether she was more of a reflector of how things were going more broadly.
Well, it's not just a human thing. That loveable Labrador turns into a snarling attack-dog if you try to pet it through the open window of its car.
Walk?! Can't be expected to walk that distance when they've been institutionalised to spending their time sat down to travel. Some of them might be older people! Clearly you can't travel half a mile sat down, nor carry groceries back again without a car...
I don't even know why they're allowed to drive
At least squirrels (red ones) drive slowly.
Driver fumes as Euro Car Parks issue fine for flooded car park
How was I to know there was flooding? No-.pone told me and there's been nothing on the news. My car was ruined in their car park, I couldn't move it if I tried, it's affecting my mental health, I need my car for my job yet still they fine me £60. I'm prepared to go to court over this.
So they are complaining that it's taking them ninety minutes to drive half a mile, but still haven't wondered whether driving is the best choice in those circumstances...?
Only half a mile as the crow flies

Seafront road labelled 'confusing' as driver filmed going wrong way
It is almost a "daily occurrence", according to locals
Cyclist David Guest was following a car down The Beach on his pushbike this week when he saw a motorist turn off the mini-roundabout at the Alexandra Road junction and drive the wrong way along the seafront.
The woman was forced to drive onto the pavement to allow cars heading in the right direction to get past. Mr Guest pulled alongside the driver and explained the road was now one-way, only to be told that she hadn’t seen the signs.

Locals forced to jump out of way of vehicles driving on pavements in Somerset village
A demonstration is planned to highlight the growing problem
Lisa said residents have reported vehicles travelling at 20mph while mounted on the pavement, pedestrians jumping out of the way of vehicles and car mirrors being hit by passing vehicles. Lisa added: “We have people who live here afraid to walk out of their houses as they have nearly been run over on the pavement.“
We're in "Mr Simpson, the tar fumes are making me dizzy territory/ Yeah, they'll do that" territory here - this is the future for some many of us, unless something changes.

This sounds like a last-minute compromise so how's it going to work - here's the form you have to complete:
1. Did you pick up a mic stand or a chair and move it at least 2metres?
You did? Congratulations, here's a year's free parking!

Villagers in Wingham, near Canterbury, claim plans for 70 homes will further make Kent ‘car park of England’
Back to Wingham we go : interesting how, fleetingly, the lights come on sometimes with people. Now you've noticed, you could hold a meeting at the village hall, but someone's parked their SUV in the porch. (Story 3 weeks back)
Villagers have lashed out at “mad” plans for 70 new homes – amid fears Kent is becoming “the car park of England.”
“This is another move towards the garden of England becoming the car park of England and the green spaces of Kent being lost forever.”
Rosemary Bunn writes: “The traffic situation is already dire and stationary at peak times – an extra 70-plus dwellings will make the roads impossible through the village.

Bolton: Supercars keep crashing on same stretch of road
Instead of dealing with the real issue*, the answer must be to put a protective barrier in so the cars can't hit the pedestrians....
*Now what could be the real issue? Is it that supercars are inherently unstable? Is there a bump in the road that causes cars traveling at the speed limit to suddenly crash? Is there a cross wind that causes cars to flip? Your guess is as good as mine!

'Heart-breaking' end of lifeline rural bus service serving three Welsh counties
It's the commenters I felt sorry for (e.g. CHRISWE) trying his best mental gymnastics to say this is all Mark Drakefords fault and that he wants only to get people out of their cars and on to, er, public transport. It seems EU money helped to support this service, so we're back to the gift that keeps on giving to ordinary people.
Still, I expect the India deal will be along any minute now and save the day, a bit like the Bwcabus.
"In response to the motion, a Welsh Government spokeswoman said: "Despite promises that Wales would not be a penny worse off after Brexit, the UK Government has failed to replace funding for rural transport schemes previously supported by EU. Unfortunately, we are therefore unable to continue supporting the Bwcabus service."
