Regarding future changes to the game, how about just letting us pick any 9 riders up to our budget? The current team make-up seems a bit arbitrary. Real DSes don't have to choose riders from prescribed lists.
Yeh but Sanderville there needs to be some boundaries otherwise it would get too complicated and also too easy imo
Limited budgets and transfers are boundaries. You'd still have to use your nous to choose an effective team.
Look at the Halfords fantasy TdF game. You can pick whoever you like. They have made it too easy by under-valuing all the riders though. It would be totally impossible for me to afford the same team in the road.cc game.
I'm only in the Halfords game for the prizes, btw. The road.cc league is where it's at!
yeh i guess, i just think the boundaries bring another element, makes you have to make tough choices, more risk vs reward
I think dave is looking into extending for next year so you could pick up to 1 GC, 2 KM, 2 PC, 3 AR and as many domestiques as you like (within the 9) to add a bit more variety
I just think it would be too untactical without some sort of boundary, especially considering the vast amount of riders
I've set a region for my team and when I click "Regional rankings" it takes me to the correct regional table (W Midlands) but I can't see my team (AG2CV) in the list. Have I missed something?
Ditto what Simon F said about the W midlands region. i should be 4th but am not there
ah you'll show up. don't worry
(just updating it now)
I've picled my team and have 26.0 credits left. . . . hhhmmm . . . gives me a bit of leeway for the first two rounds if transfers i suppose.
Dave,
I've just noticed I'm not in the W Mids league, even though I set my region quite some time ago. Is there any reason for this? Have I missed something I should have done?
Enrique, seriously now, STOP digging up old dead posts.
This one is over two years old.
If you even think about replying with a stupid fucking video link. I WILL find a way of blocking all your future posts, even though I don't run the site.
Gkam did that as joke (and had you not started doing all the stuff you seem to do all the time, a simple joke is how it would have been with the regulars), you just bring threads up to annoy people, quote people, and you quote people to make it say what you want rather than the whole quote they actually said.
Also you punctuation is shocking, what is this all about (!), either put an exclamation mark or don't
Well I knew it was a joke as 1. I knew what date the race started, so knew it hadn't, and 2. I started the thread he posted on.
But my point has nothing to do with whether people laughed or not does it, its about context, and your totally missing my point. As you seem to think everything you do is correct or right, and what others do is wrong, or thats how it seems from your seemingly sarcastic (and sometimes insulting responses), well thats how they read, not helped by putting (!) are every other word
Ive not watched any of your links and don't intend to.
You have got NINE riders, haven't you?
First of all, my links to videos are not, I repeat, not (!) stupid. They're very (!) carefully selected, and I am insulted that you cannot, or will not (!), appreciate that!
Second, please (!) watch your language on these boards (!). There are, after all, women and children reading this (!)
But most of all, I cannot fathom what could possibly be wrong about bringing up an old post to celebrate how far the game has come through the efforts of some very fine individuals and I cannot believe you, of all (!) people, would be insulted, you (!) who brought the post up from last year on the Dauphine which brought this (!) response!
and forced people to name their threads things like:
"2013 Criterium du Dauphine Stage 1"
Just (!) to avoid the confusion you (!) created (!)
How dare you?
By the way:

With love!
I didn't take it as a joke! I almost had a heart attack that day! What was so funny about that? Did you laugh? Did anyone say "Good one, Gkam"? I think general panic was the general reaction! And, honestly, you don't think people were annoyed and irritated enough with the prank to start naming their threads with the current year? Did he ever (!) apologize for that stupid prank? Please! Now my videos (!) Those (!) are (!) good ones!
You should, it's some pretty cool stuff!...
So, if a number of us all create a second team, and claim we are from Europe, and then pick the worst cyclists in the league - that will soon bring those Europeans down to our British level !!! LOL
I can't even work out which region I should be in. South East? Central South?
I can ride into Gloucestershire or Warwickshire in 15 minutes or so from this part of Oxfordshire, but I'm definitely not South West or West Midlands...
How often do you update when there's no racing happening? ie when might I expect to see my regional standing?
I'm not hassling for it to happen, I'm just curious.
i'll try and update the regional data once a day.
Yep, now working. Cheers dave Pretty happy with #37 considering I didn't do the spring classics (joined just before the Giro).
I clicked on the sidebar tab for "North West & IoM" and got the headers for a list but no list. Problem?
Stewie, I can see you in the NW & IoM league now, nestling comfortably at #37.
should be fixed now. pesky ampersands.
Cheers Tony
Yes, TERatcliffe26 that's cos you haven't selected a region - you can go in and do that in your profile now, you won't go straight in to your regional league though cos at the mo we have do a database update on the game to bring that regional data over - we will be doing regular updates so as many people are in their regional leagues before the Tour starts as want to be and we'll continue updating during the race.
2nd in my area, nearly 200 points behind 1st place, lets just hope they forget to pick a team for the TdF
I dont know what region i put if any, i have a new tab with an 0 on, and say regional standings, what area does that refer too?
BTW, if you've selected a region in your road.cc account, you're now automatically entered into your region's league. I'm 12th in the South West. Yay!
More work to do on that, we're going to do some comparative data on different regions to see who's best
last two comments (+ comments after the classics) about team selection will be addressed when we roll out our new, amazing, superfluid team selection engine next year. The one we tried to implement earlier this year that kept deleting everyone's teams. that one. but better.
Seriously though, we're working through a system whereby you can pick a more varied selection of riders, so there'll be a maximum in each category: probably 1x gc, 2x km, 2x pc, 3x ar, as many ds as you like. That'll give you more options in the smaller races and also make team selection a bit more fluid in the tours. plus you'll be able to do all your transfers at once.
