A ridiculous story of a former footbler banned for totting up 12 points then driving whilst banned then driving whilst banned and now driving whilst banned:

His driving record was 'slammed' the prison door wasn't!

He will drive again, and do it whilst banned.  He cannot help himself.  Wether he gets caught or not, who knows.  If it's in the next two years he might go to prison, but there are some chances he won't.

And they say that cyclists feel self entitled.

Someone needs to give him a second hand bicycle.

Steve Harkness was blasted for his "atrocious" record at Liverpool Magistrates Court today (September 17) where he was given a nine week prison sentence, suspended for two years.

The defender narrowly avoided being sent to prison after he decided to drive while disqualified on Monday to fetch pain relief for his "very unwell" wife.

The 48-year-old, who played at Ewood Park for one season, was ordered to pull over by police as he drove down St Helens Linkway in his Audi A8.

Harkness was driving his wife's car at the time, and as soon as he was stopped by patrolling police, he admitted to officers: "I'm not [insured].

"I'm banned."

Good grief... <face-palm>

How many offences before jail?

Oh wait, I know the answer to this!

If you do something like shoplifting or make some nasty comments on Twitter then 1 offence. Maybe 2.

If you're driving a car then 721 before you might be locked up but very reluctantly and only for a short time because really you're a decent person and the sun was in your eyes and anyone can forget to buy insurance and you have a very demanding job that you need to get to and you had a tough childhood that may have clouded your judgement a bit...

How about 25 points and still driving and causing a fatal crash?

I still don't get why courts don't ban someone from driving for life. He got a 12 year and 3 month ban which is a long time, but if you kill someone, then I don't think you should be ever allowed to drive again.

Quite right! It goes back to holding a driving licence should be a privilege and not a right.

As I’ve said before, ban them for life and if they are really desperate to get their licence back then they can mount (and pay for) a legal challenge.

The court heard that he has 20 previous convictions, for 36 offences, including for offences of dishonesty and breaches of court orders.

Girga also has a number of previous convictions for driving offences.
