This is the first Exeter “Change Gear” Cycle Sportive and it looks like it's going to be a great day. The long route is a challenging 93mile/150KM route with 8,359ft/2,550m of climbing. You'll be rewarded for your time in the saddle on the way through Silverton and Tiverton with some lovely sites of Devon’s rolling hills, resulting in an epic climb alongside a river, leading up to the top of Exmoor, where the sights can only speak for themselves. On the way back you'll be rewarded again with some fast undulating roads heading through Black Dog towards Exeter Arena. Just when you think the climbing is over, you'll be met with a climb up Wreford Lane towards the finish. This is an awesome route, an awesome challenge in an awesome location.
The middle route is also challenging at 60mile/96KM long with 5,150ft/1,570m of climbing. It follows the Long route out to Tiverton and then along side the A361 across country with sights of Devon’s beautiful rolling Hills, before joining the long route back to Exeter Arena.
Even the 20mile/33KM short route boasts 1,659ft/505m of climbing. What it lacks in distance is more than compensated by challenge. Splitting off from the Long and Medium route this takes you across country from Silverton to Thorverton to re-join the two longer routes on the return trip to Exeter Arena.
All three routes will start and finish at Exeter Arena, where you'll have access to parking, changing facilities, showers and toilets and a comfortable restaurant and bar. Also available will be mechanical help from Roots Cycle Works with some shop stock in case you need any last minute kit. To top off your day there will be a hog roast available at the Finish.
