The London Cycle Sportive takes in many important landmarks from London’s Olympic history including a unique finish on the 1948 Olympic Velodrome at Herne Hill. The Velodrome has easy access for a London sportive, only 20 minutes from London Victoria.
The ride will start in the picturesque Dulwich Park, just a stone’s throw away from the iconic finish at the Velodrome, and the route goes out to the stunning Surrey Hills taking in Box Hill as cycled on by Mark Cavendish and Lizzie Armitstead in the 2012 Olympics.
All cyclists will have the unique experience of cycling around the Olympic track as part of their finish experience and will then be invited to stay and cheer on the other finishers whilst enjoying refreshments with family and other riders.
The London Cycle Sportive has two Official Charities who are both hoping to raise thousands for their great grass route sport causes. First of all the Herne Hill Velodrome Trust are responsible for securing the future of the Herne Hill Velodrome (the fantastic finish venue for this ride) for generations to come. Secondly we support Access Sport whose mission is to give more children, particularly in disadvantaged areas, access to a wide range of quality local sport. You can support either cause by ticking to fundraise for your chosen charity when going through the entry form or can donate on the entry form to a joint grassroots cycling pot where the money is split evenly between both charities.
There is no obligation to fundraise if you want to take part in this event, but we would love you to raise as much money as possible to help the great work both the Herne Hill Velodrome Trust and Access Sport do. No portion of the entry fee goes directly to either charity and the money received by either comes from fundraising undertaken by participants.
