Footage published on The Sun website shows that the pedestrian involved in a hit-and-run collision with an e-bike rider in Dalston on Tuesday tried to rush across the road while traffic lights were on green.

The woman, named by The Sun as 56-year-old Cihan Sakine, can be seen rushing into the road, presumably looking to get across during what she thought was a gap in the traffic. She appears not to have seen the approaching e-bike rider.

Yesterday we reported that a 30-year-old man had been arrested. He fell to the ground as a result of the collision but can be seen carrying the damaged e-bike away a short time later.

According to a worker at the nearby Vape shop: “He ran down the street then turned left by the cinema. People were shouting ‘wait, wait’ but he didn’t. People were mainly attending to the injured woman as she was bleeding a lot from the head.”

The e-bike rider contacted police late on Wednesday and was arrested on suspicion of causing bodily harm, failing to stop and failing to report a collision. He has since been released under investigation.

Sakine remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries. A friend said: “We are all praying for Cihan but the doctors said she is in a bad way and we are all hoping she can pull through. She is very poorly and things do not look good at the moment.”
