Mondraker’s Neat represents the brand’s first foray into the lightweight electric mountain bike market. It might be the first light e-MTB in the brand’s history but how does it compare to the best electric mountain bikes?

Undoubtedly the details you’ll be most eager to know is how much it costs. With three builds in the Neat range; the Neat R, Neat RR and Neat RR SL, the range starts at £6,800.

The Neat is designed to fall somewhere between the performance one can expect from a Foxy carbon and a Crafty carbon. The builds all share the same geometry and frame material, which is Mondraker’s Stealth Air carbon, weighing in at 2,300 grams.

In terms of geometry, the Neat builds share a 64.5-degree head angle and a 76.5-degree seat tube angle. It comes in sizes S-XL with a reach of 450mm on the small, 470 on medium, 495 on the large and 515mm on the XL. All of the bikes roll on 29-inch wheels. 

Each build features the compact TQ-HPR50 motor that offers 50Nm of power and a 360Wh removable battery. There’s also an optional range extender that boosts the battery’s overall capacity by 160Wh. With a two-inch display built into the top tube, the system offers three models of assistance; eco, mid and high. Mondraker says this system should mean the riders of average weight (75kg) should get around three to four hours of riding time.

Each of the Neat builds comes with 160mm front suspension and 150mm rear. Mondraker has created a new suspension kinematic that lowers the shock in the frame and creates what Mondraker says is a more compact, lighter and stiffer swingarm. This also allows for longer seat posts and gives additional space for water bottles, tools or a range extender.

Mondraker Neat R

The Neat R is the first model in the range. It retails for £6,800 and gets a carbon frame, Fox 36 Float fork, Fox Float X performance shock, Mavic E-CrossRide wheels, OnOff Pija dropper, SRAM GX derailleur and SRAM G2 R brakes. The Neat R is said to weigh 18.9kg.

The Neat RR retails for £8,500, which gets a Fox 36 Float Grip 2 fork, a Fox Float X Factory shock, Mavic E-Deemax SL wheels, SRAM GX T-Type rear derailleur and SRAM level bronze stealth brakes. The Neat RR weighs 18.3kg.

The Neat RR SL is the top-of-the-range model. For £10,500, you get a Fox 36 29 Float Grip2 Factory Kashima fork, SRAM XX Eagle T-Type AXS Transmission, RockShox reverb AXS seatpost and Mavic E-CrossMax carbon XL R wheels. The Neat RR claims to weigh only 17.9kg.
