The resemblance between today’s #mycyclingweekend lead image and a famous Shawshank Redemption scene is no coincidence. Along with Cycle Surgery, this weekend we’re celebrating freedom, specifically the freedom zipping about on our bikes gives us.

Freedom means a lot of things to a lot of people, but today we’re looking to the sky. At this time of year we’ll frequently see a variety of dramatic skylines. We’ll see the beautifully clear, crisp skies that we only ever get on wintry mornings, we’ll see stormy skies, and sadly the occasional (read: frequent) bland, grey featureless expanse.

Getting a great #mycyclingweekend shot of the sky when you’re out on your weekend ride isn’t totally dependent on a dramatic clouds or beautiful colours.

The shot we’ve featured as today’s lead image features a reasonably bland skyline, but the tree and the features of the shot add up to a great photo. Though, there’s a distinct lack of bicycle. In our opinion anyway.

Adrian_0014’s shot does manage to tick all the boxes – this is what we’re looking for. Though we’ll understand if you can’t find any alps to include.

I’m gonna miss you #NewToys

Remember, though, it’s super important that you include both the #mycyclingweekend and #CycleSurgery hashtags in your tweet or Instagram post.

Happy riding!
