Pivot’s new Mach 6 Carbon is longer, lower and Pivot say, sets a new benchmark for enduro and aggressive trail bikes. The bike is designed to have a great pedalling ability and be able to hit technical features at race pace, it’s “enduro performance redefined” says Pivot, let’s see what that means…..

What’s new?

For starters, the new Mach 6 is a completely new frame and on that will be available in both carbon and aluminium from the off. As you would expect it uses Pivot’s dw-link suspension with 155mm of travel at the rear and can be paired with 160mm or 170mm forks up front.

Pivot use their ‘hollow core internal moulding process in the construction of the carbon frame which they say ensures the right combination of materials and design features to make a light and durable chassis with stiffness to rival their downhill bike. Pivot say “Large tube cross sections, double wishbone rear triangle, ultra-stiff clevis and linkage, and large, suspension specific, EnduroMax bearings all contribute to class leading power transfer and the point and shoot ride quality essential in a top flight enduro race bike.”

Elsewhere the head angle is slacker at a, not overly slack 65.75 degrees alongside a 74 degree seat angle for sizes medium and up (smaller riders will have to make do with 73 degrees). Pivot say the bike is designed to be stable, light and flickable with a roomier cockpit than bikes of old. The smaller frames (XS and S) are also designed to be more compact, looking at the geometry table below, they certainly do look small with a big step up in reach to the medium sized model.

Geometry is identical for both the carbon and alloy frames with the only difference, aside from weight, is the external cable routing used on the alloy frame (seatpost is internally routed still).
