It’s a wheels and tyres special at road.cc HQ this week, with four premium wheelsets and a set of race-focused tyres arriving for testing. Covering everything from fast road riding and gravel adventures to sustainability-focused design, here are the previews ahead of our full reviews coming to the site soon.
Parcours Strade GT wheelset (£2,499)

The Parcours Strade GT is the first model in a new GT Series premium range which use recycled carbon in the rim’s spoke bed to cut vibration, boost comfort and reduce fatigue – while also improving aero efficiency, according to the British brand.
The VibraCORE material is at the heart of things, developed in collaboration with South Wales-based company Lineat and Nottingham Trent University.
The rims are 49mm (front) and 54mm (rear) deep with a 23.5mm internal width, making them ETRTO-compliant (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation) for 28mm tyres, and the total wheelset comes in at 1,166g on our scales, including valves. This is the lightest out of the four wheelsets featured in this article.
Mavic Comete 50 wheelset (£2,297)

We hadn’t heard much from Mavic until the French brand launched its Comete 50 wheelset last month, describing it as a “do-it-all carbon aero wheel optimised for all road profiles, built for speed, instant reactivity, and ultimate control”.
As the name suggests, the Comete 50 wheelset comes with 50mm-deep hooked rims with a 23mm internal width, made from T700, T1000 and 3K carbon fibre, aero-shaped carbon spokes and new Mavic ceramic bearings.
The complete wheelset weight is 1,308g (without valves), lighter than the claimed 1,315g. Stu Kerton is testing these, so check back soon for his full review.
Industry Nine SOLiX R50 wheelset (£2,160)

Industry Nine is an American manufacturer best known for its high-end mountain bike components, but the brand has turned its attention to road riding with the SOLiX R50 wheelset.
The wheels feature a 50mm-deep hooked rim, which Industry Nine describes as “among the fastest disc-specific rims available”. They are built around the brand’s SOLiX road hubs, which use a freehub system with 605 points of engagement. The rim has a 22mm internal width and is designed to pair with tyres ranging from 25mm to 35mm.
Of the four wheelsets we are currently testing in this article, these come in slightly heavier at 1,420g (642g front, 778g rear).

Ursus Arya G50 gravel wheelset (£2,500)

The Ursus Arya G50 gravel wheelset made its competitive debut with Team Picnic PostNL at Paris Roubaix. The Italian brand markets it as an “allroad and fast gravel” wheelset which has been designed around Sapim RC1 spokes.
The spokes claim to be made with “the world’s strongest man-made fibers, redefining the relationship between weight, stiffness and responsiveness”, says Ursus, and they are constructed using 16,000 filaments of PBO or polyphenylene bensobisoxazole.
The Ursus Arya G rim is made of carbon, with a mini-hook design and the wheels have a 25mm internal width and 31mm external width. We weighed our set at 1,334g (590g front, 744g rear)
Pirelli P ZERO Race TLR RS (£84.99)

Not another wheelset, but a set of tyres to pair with one. The Pirelli P Zero Race TLR RS sits at the top of the Italian brand’s road range, with Pirelli claiming it is the fastest road racing tyre it has ever produced.
While the P Zero Race TLR RS retains a tread pattern similar to that of the standard TLR, the key differences lie in an updated rubber compound designed to improve both rolling speed and grip. Using expertise from Pirelli’s background in motorsport, the SmartEVO compound has undergone improvements in speed and grip, so we’re told.
The P Zero Race TLR RS is available in 26mm, 28mm, 30mm, 32mm and 35mm widths, with Stu Kerton testing the 35mm version.
