Italian tyre company Vittoria will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a distinctive Rubino Pro Giro Pink limited edition tyre that pays homage to the Giro d’Italia, Italy's Grand Tour that starts on the 4th of May.
The regular Rubino Pro is available in a selection of colours but this is the first full colour offering. It’s the same shade of pink as the Giro d’Italia uses for their maglia rosa, the leaders jersey. The tyre is sold in a pair in a special double pack and will cost €59,90. It’s scheduled to be available from May and for as long as stocks last.
The Rubino Pro is an all-round tyre with a 150 tpi construction and grooved and file tread pattern on the shoulders of the tyre, with a slick central section. It's available in 20, 23 and 25mm widths and weighs about 205g, depending on width.
Vittoria are the official service partner of the race this year and their cars, with spare bikes and wheels, will be easy to spot in and around the peloton, dispensing spare wheels and bikes when neccessary. The service course cars have already been in action at other Italian races, notably the Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan-San Remo.
It’s not the first time the Giro has been celebrated with a limited edition product from a manufacturer. Pinarello recently revealed a Giro d’Italia edition Dogma 65.1 Think 2 bike, with pink flashes on the trailing edge of the fork and rear stays, and only visible from the non-driveside. Rapha and Paul Smith have collaborated in the past on a special jersey, and Sir Paul Smith has since designed the maglia rosa for this year’s race.

Love these tyres on a bang
Love these tyres on a bang for buck basis. Ridden on my commute in all seasons, averse to cuts and punctures in my experience. I replace after i’ve worn them square on the back of my fixed. Not sure i’ve got the numbers to be able to pull off pink though.
The Giro is my favourite GT
The Giro is my favourite GT but at nearly £50.00 a pop to celebrate it is a bit steep for me. Especially if i knack them within a couple of weeks.
