Giro 2013 teaser vidVideo: Giro d'Italia 2013 official promo
So, the World Championships is over. Just the race of the falling leaves to go (erm, and the Tour of Beijing - ed) and that's pretty much it for the season. Outside it's cold and wet. It's getting dark earlier. What's to look forward to?
Next year's Giro, that's what! The Giro d'Italia PR machine has been leading the pack over the last few years and they've got a canny sense of timing. This morning we've all been treated to the very fine teaser vid below, full of pomp and epicness. "There is a story where bravery challenges the laws of nature, where men feed on effort and pride," we learn. "The past is not forgotten, but is the soul of a myth that has been passed on for over 100 years." Okay we don't actually learn anything about next year's race (although we do already know it's going for a summit finish on the Galibier) but it's pretty epic stuff, with lots of cracking footage from the race and a big orchestral soundtrack to get you in the mood. It's certainly brightened up our morning.

He's won three mountain bike bog snorkelling World Championships, and races at the back of the third cats.

Sure does.
It's by production music company Two Steps From Hell and according to the Wiki entry, the track, Heart of Courage "was also used in the beginning of UEFA Euro 2012 matches and in the beginning of the London 2012 Olympic games athletics finals. This song also appeared at various moments in the World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, and is used, along with other tracks, more and more in videos from events, homemade films, etc."
ps There's more: ""Heart of Courage" was used in the trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader as well as in TV spots for the DVD of Avatar, the TV shows Camelot, Frozen Planet, The Pacific, and Revolution, and the video game Mass Effect 2. It is also the intro theme for all games of UEFA Euro 2012. It was used in TV commercials for the Ferrari FF and for Tod's. It was also used in the release trailer of Nehrim: At Fate's Edge, a total conversion mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion."
