Holyrood is expected to pay almost £40 million after spending during Scotland’s ‘mega-worlds’, which brought in a total revenue of £205 million, went over budget “most notably due to inflation”
Police say the investigation into the incident on Sunday evening is "ongoing"
Although police were quick to deal with this particular incident, the apologetic driver receiving three points and a fine, David Brennan says Police Scotland are behind the times when it comes to dealing with footage of law-breaking driving
58 per cent of drivers said that knowing they were being filmed would change their behaviour around people cycling, while 62 per cent said the risk of killing someone would make them drive more safely
However, 62 per cent also stated that they support re-allocating road space for cycling in their area and "most people now recognise the benefits"
"I'm still somewhat in shock that someone actually welded this thing together and put it on a trail"
"I just want to put a spotlight on the fact there are a lot of cyclists on the roads and drivers have to be aware"
According to the report, 82 per cent of spectators used active travel during Scotland’s ‘mega-worlds’, while over half of the non-cyclists who attended said they were inspired to cycle
The council is working with Sustrans on the project, with plans for five new bike lanes to be announced soon — council officer Gordon Leitch telling concerned drivers "the new hierarchy is pedestrians first, cyclists, buses and everything else"
In court Christopher Morrison said he had not seen cyclist Robert Cowie — who died after being struck by the driver before falling into the path of another driver's vehicle — due to sun glare and suggested "maybe it was bouncing off his high-vis vest"
