The Topeak G-Gear Multi-Mount is a quick, solid way to add a Garmin, Wahoo or Sigma computer, or a similarly fitted light, to any bike. With adaptors for bar, stem or seatpost mounting and plenty of strap to wrap around fatter tubes, it’s a handy thing to have if you swap bikes frequently.

The G-Gear Multi Mount makes adding or removing a bike computer or matching-mount device easy, with a long hook/loop strap to wrap around 35mm tubes or 48mm stems. There’s a separate model specifically for Bryton computers that uses the same mounting hardware.

There are two mounts to choose from: one for bars/seatposts and one for stems. The stem fitting mount is almost flat, as stems tend to be much thicker than bars or seatposts. It can also be used on narrow top tubes – handy to get your computer off your bar area completely – but Topeak doesn’t mention that use case.

You swap between mounts using the provided 2mm hex to remove the adaptor from the circular part of the mount. Annoyingly, you then need to peel off the sticky rubber pad to access hidden screws to then remove and swap the underneath-plate-thing to the other mount.

If you’re using the mount on a seatpost, there’s a curved rubber block that aligns with the mount using two wee rubber bungs. (Why Topeak didn’t make the bar rubber pad the same escapes me – one for the V2 product there, Topeak.) Do this a few times and eventually the stickiness of the rubber pad will fail. There’s no aero post rubber insert.

Mounting your computer, you can only turn it clockwise to fit. I did learn this (eventually) once I’d stared at an upside down computer for the nth time – another feature to be solved in V2.

You get one strap, which is 22cm long. If you’re mounting to a narrow bar there’s quite a lot of surplus strap to hide away – about 5cm spare once folded back on itself. This is easy to hide amongst bar cables, but if you’re seatpost-mounting a Varia or similar, that long flap of excess strap is going to look ugly and will likely catch your legs. This is not a deal-breaker, but having a long and a short strap would be a nice option. Yes, you could cut the strap short – but that would then rule out later fitting to fatter tubes.

All that said, as is usual for Topeak, the mount is a solid bit of kit, built from premium materials. It holds your precious computer or light/radar rock solid, and can be fitted or removed in seconds with far less faff than using the standard mounts with multiple rubber rings. If you’re a commuter, or need to park your bike somewhere you don’t want to risk losing even a tiny standard mount, this could be for you. Just leave the mount attached to your computer and crack on.

Given Garmin’s wee rubber-bandy bar mount is £9 and their Varia seatpost one is £15, Topeak’s £13 ask to have the option to quickly mount your computer or light wherever you like seems good value. If you’re a commuter using a computer up front and a light/radar out back, for £26 you can turn both into quick-release accessories that will meaningfully reduce the bike-parking-accessory-kerfuffle.
