Lapierre have unveiled an all new Overvolt AM CF electric mountain bike, with a lightweight frame and an arguably understated design compared to some of the more out-there creations we’ve seen from the Dijon-based bike brand in previous years.

Lapierre were one of the early adopters of EMTB, and have created some of the most interesting platforms to date. They were one of the first ever brands to create a super lightweight EMTB running the Fazua motor platform with the E Zesty, and with the help of
MTB legend Nico Vouillioz, built the GLP — one of the first EMTBs that was designed to ensure a low centre of gravity for incredible handling. Even before EMTB became the norm, the French bike maker had always been known for pushing the envelope and developing some really interesting technology.

But the new Overvolt AM CF range looks positively tame in comparison to some of their wilder designs. As the name suggests, the 2026 Overvolt AM CF is aimed at all-mountain riding, and its frame is made from carbon fibre — a mix of Mitsubishi 24T and 40T layups, to be accurate — which creates a frame weight of only 2.9kg (size medium) without the rear shock.
All-Mountain is an interesting choice of label for the new Overvolt, as the press material references racing on multiple occasions, and with 170/165mm of travel, it firmly sits within the enduro segment. To confuse things further, the new bike was developed with input from UCI E-MTB World Champion Jerome Gilloux, an E-XC champion, not a ‘gravity’ racer. So quite clearly, Lapierre sees the new Overvolt AM CF range as a much more versatile platform compared to other bikes in their range — a bike that will happily lap the local trails, take on an EDR track, and still offer enough range and comfort for an epic backcountry ride.

With this versatility in mind, it’s good to see that Lapierre’s engineers have ensured the internal 800Wh battery is removable and compatible with Bosch’s PowerMore range extender technology for increased range. Integrated into the carbon frame is a Bosch Performance CX motor with 100Nm of torque, protected by a ventilated motor guard to keep running temperatures low.
The frame itself is very traditional compared to other Lapierre models, with a vertical shock placement and kinematics that have been inspired by the GLPIII range. Unfortunately, Lapierre has chosen through-headset cable routing, which can be a pain to maintain, and although the press info states that design choices have been made to ensure longer droppers can be used in the frame, it’s limited to just 170mm of insertion due to the kinked seat tube, which might cause issues for riders wanting to run longer dropper posts.
As we have come to expect from EMTBs in this travel category, the rider has the choice to run the AM CF as either a full 29er or a mullet via a flip chip that manages to maintain the 65-degree head angle and 77-degree seat angle in either configuration.

Lapierre will offer the Overvolt AM CF in four sizes from S–XL and three build options, from the flagship 10.8 to an entry-level 6.8, each featuring RockShox suspension and SRAM drivetrains.
