Known for its burly componentry, which has become a mainstay on the downhill circuit, Renthal may have been a late bloomer on the pedal market, with its flat Revo-F pedals launching in 2024. But upon its success, the brand has expanded its pedal offering with two all-new clipless pedals, the Revo-DHC and Revo-TRC, with the former being perhaps the largest clipless pedal we’ve seen to date.

The Revo-DHC is Huge!

Measuring at a very sizey 104 x 111mm, the Revo-DHC is designed to feel and perform like a flat pedal, but with the security of a clipless mechanism. Its CNC-machined 6061 aluminium body is then home to eight pins per side, all of which are mega adjustable. They can measure 1.5mm up to 5.5mm in height, but with adjustments in 1mm increments.

With that heft of pin adjustment, Renthal has supplied setup video guides, as the Revo-DHC requires specific setup for your particular shoes for the best performance.

While the Revo-DHC is compatible with all SPD cleats, the mechanism is, in fact, Renthal’s own design, which is shaped with an ‘easy-entry’ geometry. The adjustability doesn’t stop at the pins either, as the brand claims that the mechanism’s tension is super wide, catering to a range of preferences.

Inside the pedal are three cartridge bearings, which are mounted outboard to boost durability, but they’re paired with an Igus bushing inboard of the axle. And as seen on the Revo-F, the Revo-DHC uses Renthal’s easy service axle system, so they should be simple enough to refresh with tools you probably already have. The axle is then closed thanks to a sealed end cap featuring a full-contact wiper seal, priming the pedals for brutal UK winters.

Renthal then says that a pair of pedals with the standard pin configuration weighs 622g (claimed). So they’re not light.

The Revo-TRC is built for gravel, BMX, trail and enduro

If that 622g is a bit too weighty for your blood, the Revo-TRC fills the gap for a medium platformed trail pedal. This pedal also uses a CNC-machined 6061 aluminium body, but it measures 63.5 x 81mm. However, a pair of these pedals comes in at 394g, according to Renthal.

As you can probably guess, the Revo-TRC benefits from all of the technologies found on the Revo-DHC, such as the mechanism, bearings and axle system, but it’ll appeal more to those who are seeking versatility. Renthal even says that they’ll work swimmingly for gravel riders.

Both pedals can be bought now, with the Revo-DHC costing £189.95 and the Revo-TRC costing £154.95.

We’ve got both of these pedals in for testing already, so keep your eyes peeled for reviews coming soon.
