Trail Bloom’s Ladies MTB jersey is built to please those with a penchant for big rides who require serious comfort. With it, the brand has managed to hit most of the right trail notes, providing excellent comfort and great moisture-wicking in a range of eye-catching designs. However, deeper into the test, I began to question the top’s long-term durability.

Ladies MTB Jersey – Technical details

For the Ladies MTB jersey, Trail Bloom uses 100% polyester, and the brand claims this to be ‘stretchy, breathable, moisture-wicking’ and ‘perfect for trail riding’. The lightweight fabric offers four-way stretch and a ‘flattering fit’. The material is designed to wick moisture and keep the body cool and dry during both tough climbs and speedy descents.

Long sleeves are designed for extra coverage from weather or trail elements, and the dropped back hem is set to provide coverage at the back while in the riding position.

A bold khaki animal print covers the front and the back. The design blends into solid black, while the sleeves are purely khaki in colour. There is a printed ‘Trail Bloom’ logo on the front in a dusky pink and a tag logo on the left-hand side inseam towards the bottom hem.

Ladies MTB Jersey – Performance

Trail Bloom quotes the fit of the jersey as a ‘relaxed fit, trail-ready’. And the brand has summed this up well, as it felt neither too clingy nor restrictive, but with some room for manoeuvring, which is what you need while navigating riding mountain bikes. The fit leaves space for a vest underneath for plenty of layering options.

The raglan sleeves are a great design feature on this jersey as they allow for plenty of easy, unrestricted movement in the arms.

The sleeves offer plenty of freedom of movement, and the length was a good fit, although compared to what the brand claims about the long sleeve length, I found them a little on the short side. This can be a drawback when you need extra coverage during the colder months or a little more protection against the sun in the summer.

The body length is long with a dropped rear hem design. This is a huge positive, allowing for full coverage at the back and being long enough to tuck inside my shorts or pants if needed. The crew neck is well-designed and doesn’t rise too high, making it comfortable.

The jersey is made using lightweight materials, and I found it to be breathable even in hot weather. The polyester used throughout also wicked away any moisture effectively. The jersey doesn’t have any vents, but this didn’t seem to be an issue as the air could flow through the fabric itself. I felt cool while riding challenging technical or long climbs, even in 20-degree heat.

After a handful of rides and washing the jersey, some bobbling has appeared. There are some signs of wear and tear on the upper arm area on both sides. This could be due to washing or the material rubbing against itself while riding. While this can happen naturally with certain fabrics, it’s arisen fairly quickly with this jersey. As such, I’m not totally convinced by the level of durability the material provides.

Trail Bloom Ladies MTB jersey – Verdict

Another equivalent jersey is the Fortan Women’s Defend Jersey, featuring quick-drying 4-way stretch, raglan sleeves, and a breathable design with a slightly loose fit. The cost is similar to the Trail Bloom jersey. We have previously reviewed the Scott Trail Vertic LS Jersey, and this is a good comparison, featuring an ergonomic sleeve design, style, and fabric construction.

The Women’s MTB Jersey by Trail Bloom is built for serious trail time with a wild side. Crafted from high-performance stretch fabric, it moves with you for all-day comfort and zero restriction. The moisture-wicking material keeps sweat at bay, while the long sleeves offer added protection on the descents, although I would like it if they were a little longer. A dropped back hem gives perfect coverage while riding. However, mild durability qualms mar an otherwise excellent bit of kit.
