The Scott Trail Vertic Long Sleeve Women’s Jersey has a powerful style and fits well thanks to the race tailoring and ergonomic sleeve design. Venting is achieved easily and the longer back keeps you covered, but the sleeves can be a little long. That said, there is plenty of room for armour. It’s a great all-rounder if you’re in the market for one of the best women’s mountain bike jerseys.

Scott Women’s Trail Vertic Jersey – Technical details

Let’s delve straight into the details. The jersey is made from recycled polyester, it is heading towards the sustainable route, which is becoming more and more ‘normal’ each day. The elastane in the construction gives it some flexibility along with Scott’s Duroxpand four-way stretch knit fabric technology design. Another technology is Scott’s Dryoxcell quick dry, which offers moisture wicking when body temperatures rise.

The material is thin but there’s no real chance of overheating unless it is the height of summer when a short jersey is usually more appropriate. The jersey has mesh zones on the back to allow for added ventilation and effective airflow.

The sleeve length is long, which is ideal for those rides that call for a little more protection and coverage from the weather. A dropped tail design means the jersey offers more coverage at the back, specifically for when in the riding position.

The nifty little pocket is hidden out of sight featuring a low-profile zip. Perfect for storage with quick access. It is very small, so don’t expect the cram tools or a peanut butter sandwich in there. The pocket doubles up as a lens wipe with an integrated soft patch of fabric designed to clean goggles or sunglasses without scratching the lens.

Graphics feature on the main fabric, a ‘Glade Green’, and Scott’s branding logo adorns the sleeve and chest in a contrasting ‘Crystal Pink’. Other colour options are midnight blue/sun and yellow and sizes range from XS to XL.

Scott Women’s Trail Vertic Jersey – Fit

The jersey isn’t either baggy or tight and Scott claims it has a ‘race’ fit. I find it to be a feminine, flattering fit. It is shaped to not look like a sack of potatoes, and I personally feel good wearing it with the clinging fabric in the right places.

The ergonomic sleeve design is suited to those who wear under armour and provides extra room to play with when moving around on the bike. With the combo of long sleeves and spacious shoulders, wearing something bulky underneath will take up some extra space for a better fit. Scott says the sleeve design is optimised for riding, which is why the arm length is a little longer, as this allows for better moveability and eliminates any possibility of body armour snagging or restriction.

A dropped tail gives extra coverage in the riding position, and the long length is good for both tucking into shorts or leaving out.

Scott Women’s Trail Vertic Jersey – Performance

The first time I tested this jersey was at an enduro race where it was mild but with drizzle. Despite using a vest underneath I felt comfortable all day, even when climbing.

The mesh panels help with moisture management. Even when pedalling up some agonising hills, the jersey never felt as if it was sticking to my skin. The well-thought-out design of the jersey offered space to let air flow nicely through without pulling my sleeves up for cooling down. Performance is maximised because of the overall construction design. The articulated, shaped sleeves are ideal for riding where moving easily is highly important.

Having a longer back length is spot on for wearing tucked inside my shorts, as I find most jerseys I have are shorter and don’t stay where they should be and can frustratingly create a gap between the hem and my shorts. The other option is pulling the jersey down for more protection and moveability potential.

With the jerseys fit neither ultra-fitted nor baggy, it offers a good blend of a stylish, flattering look with an ‘I mean business’ characteristic. Slipping this incredibly pro-looking jersey on, mentally, I’m ready for the trails.

Scott Women’s Trail Vertic Jersey – Verdict

At £64, this is not the cheapest jersey but you get a lot of features: a small discrete pocket, funky graphics and material tech. So if you’re a regular keen rider, you should consider purchasing this. That said, you can get a similar jersey for £20 less, such as the Madison Flux Enduro Jersey that we reviewed earlier this year. The Madison Flux performs equally as well with vents in the right places and has a nice female cut, so it has lots of style along with the powerful colourway.

Another option is the Fox Racing Womens Flexair Pro Long Sleeve Jersey; although more expensive at £90, you get an even lighter weight product with maximum airflow technology throughout paired with bags of durability.

Overall, the Scott Trail Vertic Women’s jersey represents a good option for all-year-round riding, with bags of style and well-thought-out features ideal for hitting the trails or enduro events. A great women-specific fit and high-quality materials that perform well to keep the body as comfortable as possible, but this is reflected in the slightly steeper price point.
