Suspension forks have been a huge talking point in gravel over the last few weeks, and kicking off the fresh round of debate is Canyon with its teased and rumoured suspension-forked equipped Grail spotted at the Traka and Gralloch. And it’s not taken long for the brand to pull the covers off the Grail Rift Edition, a new-spec gravel bike with that secret suspension fork designed in collaboration with DT Swiss. In classic Canyon style, the new Grail Rift Edition stands for Rough Is Fast Tuning (catchy, we know) and it’s built to bring improved performance to gravel racing, in turn, making the Grail faster and better controlled.
That’s all thanks to that suspension fork. It’s a new F 132 ONE fork that’s been designed by Canyon, but in collaboration with DT Swiss. The new fork brings 40mm of suspension travel to the party, which is said to be fully adjustable, and it comes with a bar-mounted remote lockout.
The F 132 ONE fork uses a LINEAIR positive and negative airspring that addresses small bump sensitivity, and it’s fully adjustable via an ‘aero fast’ concealed valve on the fork crown. As for damping, the new fork employs a PLAINGAIN cartridge that provides nine clicks of rebound damping that’s accessible through a dial on the lower leg.
Canyon then states that other suspension fork designs for gravel aren’t exactly the prettiest. So the F 132 ONE gets internal routing of the remote lockout as well as half-integrated routing for the brake hose.
While we’ve seen this fork and bike on the race circuits, the brand says that this fork is still bikepacking ready, as it’s capable of carrying three kilos per side thanks to universal and removable sleeve mounts.
It’s not all about the Grail Rift Edition, as the rest of the range benefits from a host of tweaks. Notably, all CFR bikes get the CP0047 Gear Groove Pro cockpits that are a little more aero and get a 16-degree flare, 400mm width, and all CF SLX models get power meters.
While we don’t have GBP prices just yet, the Canyon Grail Rift Edition will set you back €8,000, and prices start at €3,400 for the Grail CF 7.
