Cycle Show 2009 preview: Condor showcases Kristian House's custom bike

British National Road Race Champion Kristian House’s bike will be one of the highlights of Condor Cycle’s stand at the Cycle Show 2009, which opens at Earl’s Court in West London later this week.

House’s bike celebrates his success at Abergavenny last June by incorporating flashes of red, white and blue into a black carbon fibre frame, and will be displayed alongside the Rapha Condor rider’s signed National Champion’s jersey and matching themed accessories.

Rapha Condor team mates Dean Downing, Chris Newton and Dan Craven will be putting in an appearance at the Condor stand, as will “several celebrity guests, not just from the world of cycling”. No names mentioned, but Condor’s customer’s include newsreader Jon Snow, fashion designer Jeff Banks, actor Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian Beale in Eastenders, and rock legend Sir Mick Jagger.

Also on show will be Condor’s first ever frame, which dates from 1958 and marked the first step in the London-based frame builder’s journey to become one of the leading names in the British cycling industry, as well as a custom version of the Pista track bike complete with wooden grips and rims.

According to Grant Young, the son of Condor’s founder, Monty Young, ““It’s been a hectic but fantastic year for us. The fact that our sales are up in a time of economic upheaval is testament to the health of the brand and cycle industry,” explained owner Grant Young. “We have a new look store and over the course of the show we expect several special celebrity guests, not just from the world of cycling, to pop by and help us celebrate great year.”

Naturally, the full Condor range of 42 bikes will be there too, and to celebrate the success of both the shop and the Rapha Condor racing team during 2009, Condor will be giving visitors to its stand the opportunity to win an exclusive goody pack on each day of the show, including items from Sharp Electronics, Giro and Condor. Winners will be announced each day on the stand at 4.30pm.
