Volta a Catalunya

I think the stage definitions for this race could do with another look. Is stage 1 really high mountains? The highest point in the stage is only 614m above sea level.

I also think we could do with another level between flat and medium mountains (hilly?). Stage 7 - a circuit with repeated climbs of Montjuic (roughly 150m summit) is obviously not flat but mountains of any description is pushing it a bit.

Got Wiggins and Lopez in my purist with Meersman and Rodriguez in my standard.

Not brilliant but i dont suppose many will have had a startling day with that break getting away.

Allan Davis nearly gets me the Lanterne Rouge - coming in second last over 15 mins down - so do I drop him a stage early? 39
Last man home was (according to PCS) Ariel Richeze of Lampre.
1,3,8,19,20 for my standard, 3,8 plus Salerno for purist - that break certainly worked for me!

I had almost finished the scores when I realised I was still short of the last climb. Procycling stats appears to have Lopez and Uran picking up points that I can't find anywhere so unfortunately it's going to have to wait until I get home.

Apologies, scores hopefully up for 7ish.

My teams have completely disappeared. They were up earlier (during the race) but now I have a blank Roster! Help!

Dr did you start updating the scores and then stopped it?

Yeah, sorry, updated points but didn't update the stage as I realised there was a climb missing. Figured I'd sort it later...

Will run the stage update sans last climb and overwrite it once I get the info so you lot can play with your teams.

It seems to have knocked out everyone's teams. So it might be worth running the update now and then update it later 3 3

Update is running but these aren't final. Uran and Lopez at least need some points from the last climb but no one seems to have full climb results. Hoping the race itself will release official results eventually.

Apologies for the mix up.

Email me the file and I'll see if I can work it out from the standings if you want 3

What a fluke. I've got Richeze in my Standard & Purist teams. 4

Check your teams now, should be running.

Gkam, I know Lopez went over the last climb first (6 points) and Uran second (4) bit I'm missing 3rd and 4th, plus 4th from the previous climb.

Once this info pops up or someone releases the full list of KoM points I can work it out but if anyone seems them pop up online let me know.

Final update running.

Not much change, Lopez, Cataldo and Uran picking up some KoM points plus Agnoli too.

Just for info, I'm not scoring the 100th edition TdF sprint, just the two official ones which count towards the sprint competition standings.

My team never disappeared because I never had one. Cost me a few places in the overall but at least I know who to put in for tomorrow!!

I accidentally used that tactic at the Tour of Britain last year, missed the first stage and nearly managed top 10 by the end just through being able to pick the right guys from the start.

Is it allowed ?

Not that it bothers me either way but you know how some people kick up a stink for the slightest thing if they think you've gotten away with something.

Mind you i might try it at the start of the TdF 13

I can't see how it would be banned, there's not a lot that can be done and realistically its still a disadvantage as you're a stage down.

The only reason it worked at the ToB was because all the stages were similar and it was an unexpected bunch of riders contesting the finishes so I got more of them in earlier than others.

There's less benefit too this year anyway as penalty transfers only cost 10 points. Picking up even 51 points on stage one means you can make 7 transfers if you need to and still be up on someone who skipped it.

Not too bad a start, purists doing really good, and my non scorers finished way back ready for the sprint tomorrow....so I think I will STICK.

Should I not have another badge for having Meersman in my squad today? Like a sprinter or climber one?

Same here, had him in both teams.

Must have screwed up somewhere and forgot to pick teams for this, I guess. Too late to pick a purist squad, Zeros for all stages then. Bummer.

I've had a look through the scores and can't see why badges aren't being awarded. Very odd, will ask Dave to take a look.

Unfortunately for those of us with Meersman I also noticed he was overscored by 12 points (they should have gone to Meier) so I've updated that too.

Just re read the description of the KoM badge and it refers to summit finishes only. The sprint badge also refers to picking the winner of a flat stage. Yesterday was neither of these so a badge isn't awarded.

Wiggins and Sky forced a break of 13 over the top of the last climb, they finished 28 secs ahead of the rest after a VERY quick descent. Agnoli, Valverde, Dan Martin looked like they were in the first five, Rodriguez, Gesink and Scarponi also in the front group.
