Bicycle Association boss outlines why it's important for trade to get behind Bike Week (video)

Industry doubles its investment in this week's event to plug funding shortfall created by axing of Cycling England...

Team Green Britain Bike Week is now in full swing – you can find details of events close to you on its dedicated website – but the demise earlier this year of Cycling England caused a funding gap that has been plugged by the bike industry through Bike Hub, which has doubled its funding of the annual event from £30,000 to £60,000.

Added to the £200,000 provided by sponsor EDF Energy, that gives Bike Week a decent budget to promote the use of bicycles. In this short video filmed at last week’s All Parliamentary Cycling Group ride by Carlton Reid of BikeBiz and Quickrelease.tv, Bicycle Association President Mark Bickerton outlines why the industry feels that is a worthwhile investment, why it’s important to get more people on their bikes, and the impact of the weather on bicycle sales.
