National Cyclo-cross championships to be live streamed by British Cycling

Event to take place in Sunderland on January 13 and 14

British Cycling is to live stream this year’s National Cyclo-Cross Championships via its website and Facebook page. The event will take place in Sunderland’s Hetton Lyons Country Park on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January.

Last year’s live streaming attracted over 110,000 viewers, encouraging British Cycling continues to cover the event again.

Five-time British Cyclo-cross champion back from injury – after 33 years

British Cycling’s director of cycling, Jonny Clay, said it was ‘fantastic’ to be able to take the discipline to a greater audience.

“At British Cycling we want to inspire more people to get on their bikes and that’s why it is so important that we invest in our national championships and make them an event that riders, spectators and viewers will remember.

“We know that cyclo-cross is a hugely entertaining sport to watch and with the strength of the field and a fantastic course we wanted to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy a great spectacle and be inspired to attend another event or take up the sport themselves in the future.”

Among the riders taking part will be 2016 junior cyclo-cross world champion, Tom Pidcock, and Nikki Brammeier, who will be aiming to win her third British crown in succession.

The event begins with the veteran women’s race at 9.30am on Saturday and climaxes on Sunday with the elite women’s race from 1.15pm and the elite men’s race from 2.30pm.
