The Vortex estimates cadence (pretty well though), but I fitted a Garmin cadence sensor as well to use with the Trainer Road software.
Thanks for the replies, I should have added I wil be using the trainer with an android tablet which is equipped with stuff I can't get my head round (numpty with high tech) stuff like lollipop, whatever that is though I believe the tacx app should be compatable.
I assumed there was some kind of sensor in the tripod somewhere - or magic!
so, you definitely get cadence, but you could also get a seperate ant+ cadence sensor if you like, the ant+ receiver you'll be needing will pick that up
It's not the end of the world, just get a compatible cadence sensor for the crank. You are probably going to connect it to a pc and use Bkool or zwift etc. Make sure it's Ant+ compliant.
Likewise, I have the Vortex and it certainly shows Cadence within Zwift with a degree of accuracy. There is no adaptor box in the setup though, how it does it? I don't know.
Hi Antonio,
I've got the Tacx ProForm Vortex Smart T2180 (TdF edition!) and it has cadence, power and speed all built in
how accurate, I don't know, but it's all part of the magic tripod
also, I got mine from here: http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/tacx-t2180-vortex-virtual-smart-train...
it was cheap and super quick, I ordered it on Saturdy night, and and was turbo-ing on Wednesday - it was quicker from Germany to the UK than most Uk based suppliers ...
you might want a special training tyre as well, I burnt a couple out ...
