The Galibier Multi Scarf Pro is a well priced scarf that keeps the wind off your face and allows you to breathe properly even when it’s over your mouth.
- Pros: Keeps the wind off, simple design, price
- Cons: No hems on the edges
As the temperatures plummet and you swap from bib shorts to bib tights, the one piece of kit I am always happy to have with me is a scarf or neck warmer. The scarf is one of the most basic pieces of kit you’re likely to find, as it’s essentially one piece of fabric folded in half and sewn together, but it has a lot of uses: I wore it as a traditional scarf around my neck, a covering for my face, and it was even usable as a makeshift hat when needed.
Galibier has used a Domiti fabric, which is essentially like thicker Lycra. It has a decent amount of stretch which makes it ideal for all of its different uses, it stretches across the face well, sits comfortably around the neck or around the head. The material itself isn’t fully windproof, but does the job that’s needed. When the temperature is below freezing you can feel the cold coming through, but it does enough to stop the real sting from it.

It’s so compact that, when temperatures rise and you want to take it off, you can just fold it up and chuck it in a back pocket.
In terms of construction it’s very simple, with only one flatlock stitched seam running the length of the scarf. At the bottom there isn’t a hem, but despite the raw edge there are no issues with fraying.
At £7.30 it’s a good price for a scarf that performs well. Compare it with the Kalf Merino Neckwarmer and it’s almost a third of the price, although the Kalf is made from merino wool. The Lusso Zigzag Multifunctional Neck Warmer is a more similar design, and is still £2.69 more expensive.

Overall, I like this scarf. It’s not a complicated piece of kit, but it excels in its simplicity, doing everything that I need it to with minimal fuss.
Verdict
A simple scarf that comes at a good price and does everything you need it to

Galibier says, “A new scarf for 2018. the Multi Scarf Pro, does the same job as our other scarfs, but is constructed from Italian Carvico’s own Domiti fabric. Breathable, with a extensive 4-way stretch makes the material an ideal choice for a multi-purpose, thermal, headwear.
“The single seam is flat stitched and the lightly brushed fabric is warm and stylish; finished in our signature white stripes, which have lived on our Roubaix gloves for 7 years now.”
