Does it not depend on the brand? Some 3/4’s are longer than others. Plus some people will need a larger or smaller size for their height. It’s no different to shorts.

How are you guys recovering? The day after a crit or chaingang I feel absolutely done in and can’t be bothered to ride at all.mtbtomo

I’m in a similar position – trying to get a result in some crits, but this will have to follow staying with the bunch on a regular basis first.I suffer on courses with hairpin bends where every lap there’s a crazy mad acceleration and the field strings out. On a steady course at the weekend I was well in the bunch at the end.
It sounds like another variation of needing to improve your positioning on the last lap, and not before it? Being on the front, unless you’re someone like Cancellara, is a wearing place to be.

Have a look at Planet-X AL-30’s – around just over 1600g for £150 or Superstarcomponents have a lot of choice between £150 and £300, mostly sub 1700g too.Fulcrums and Mavics aren’t the lightest for their particular price point.

Surely only the rear mech hanger on the Canyon is unique? And possibly the headset could be an odd size.Apart from that I’m struggling along with everyone else to tell why a bike shop couldn’t service a Canyon compared to any other brand?

I have the cleats pushed as far back as they will go on every set of shoes I have – road or mtb. It seems the only way to get the cleat just behind the centre of the ball of my foot. I just can’t imagine having cleats further forward and feeling like I’m pedalling with my toesI’ve recently been having knee problems (well, right knee only) with the road pedals, which I’ve only been using for about 6 months. Gone back to mtb spd’s seems to have alleviated the problem, so I can only presume the increased float is what I need. I’ve got some Speedplays to try.
I would have thought a comfortable cleat position would help you ride further and faster, regardless of what the pro’s do.

I’d like to hope some of these comments are not for real (and I mean the more serious posts!). Just why shouldn’t people buy kit they can’t justify??If you have the disposable income and cycling is your passion then why shouldn’t you spend it on nice kit?

Aluminium is having a bit of
Aluminium is having a bit of resurgence – Cannondale CAAD, Kinesis, Giant all doing frames that are almost as light as cheaper carbon frames and alledgedly aren’t like harsh aluminium frames of old.I have an alloy Giant and alloy Kinesis, having previously had carbon frames. No real reason for having alloy as opposed to carbon, just what I like the look of.
The £500 difference would allow you to buy a fairly decent set of wheels (better than the fulcrums on the carbon too) for the alloy one – and would have more effect on the ride than having the carbon frame.

I would try just new brake
I would try just new brake pads first unless I was going to go for something substantially further upmarket tham Tiagra. -
