    Timbuk2 courier bag, custom,

Timbuk2 courier bag, custom, my second one is coming to an end, both gave me about 10 years of hauling a lot of stuff, neither dead but gets tatty.  I’m waiting for them to do truck tarp before I get a new one.  The first one was in waxed cotton and they are back, they was built stronger back then, my current one I just had to get in vinyl, which did not wear as well.  Just love them.

    The morning ride, especially

The morning ride, especially in the cold of winter, seems to bring up my nightly gunk, the evening ride home removes the build up due to my allergic rhinitus from the air con.  The warmer weather means less, but it never really stops, one reason I could never wear a non effective pollution mask.

    I find jockey wheels get

I find jockey wheels get pointy as they wear, or the bearings seize, always difficult to tell about the cassette.

My other half was driving me

My other half was driving me on the M3 last summer, was still being developed as a “smart” motorway, average 50mph with enforcement, she found it nice to drive and so did I.  All travelling at the same speed, no one doing crazy speed in the “fast” lane, no rapid lane changes to gain an advantage.  Really enjoyable for me and I don’t like being in cars, especially on the motorway.

“profound impact this has had upon you”

Nothing on the impact the cyclist had to endure.

If your chain had worn to

If your chain had worn to over 1% that may mean that your casette is worn too, however you choose to measure it.  Rohloff do sell a casette wear indicating tool (kind of ironic) but seems very subjective in use, I haven’t got one but tempted.

The only real test is fitting a new chain, if it skips on the smaller cogs when you lay down the power, you need a new one.

Chain rings tend to get pointy as they wear, so do jockey wheels.

As I remember, not much armco

As I remember, not much armco, lot of soft verges and a lot of rubbish strewn about.  We walked down the hard shoulder picking and everything up to the fence.

Nice little temping job that one, the next year was spent clearing the slab ditches on the M3.  Proper motorway van and a little more in nature.  Even nicer.

Changed the coloured cats eyes on the A34 and A303 at some point too, much harder, lot of bending down, my fellow temper was a very bitter ex military bloke who would laugh at all of his constant and unfunny jokes.  Full rolling road closure with big crash cushion, some hairy moments with unattentive motons there, much scarier than working on the hard shoulder.

Back in the mid 90s I temped for a few months litter picking on the M3, the mile after Fleet services took about a week.

Not sure about Jterrier but I

Not sure about Jterrier but I was referring specifically to Park’s ASC-1, Anti-Seize Compound, similar to the copper stuff but a little more gunmetal rather than coppery.

    +1 for the assembly paste.

    +1 for the assembly paste.

Turn her upside down and fill her with penetrating fluid.  Soak for longer than you really want to, clamp the post, it’s probably dead anyway and then move the frame, good luck.

I have been adjusting my b-screw with my JIS 2 screwdriver,  it fits beautifully and doesn’t put stess on the grooves in the head.  Proper tool, proper job.
