Ow, it would seem to me that it’s not just about the bike. There is personal injury now, and that’s legal advice. Would be handy if you are a member of a cycling organisation, but you could see if that’s also covered under your home insurance. When I got hit I had to go and see a solicitor, but there was gettable legal aid back them, it’s more no win no fee these days.
The drivers insurance company will be an arse, it unfortunately can take some time.
But let’s get you mended first.

Go through your insurance
Go through your insurance company.
Glad to hear you are still with us, that transfer made it sound quite serious.
Good luck recovering, and getting over the extra fear being hit gives you.

I cannot agree with the death penalty. But of course this would be a enforced lifetime ban…

HawkinsPeter, from your question to our newer member, do you consider the disk brake issue to be slightly less contentious than the plastic hat debate?

If whilst riding on a towpath, which I do regularly, I was creating a wake that destroyed the river or canal bank, then your ridiculous 4 mph limit would make sense.

Rise it like crazy in the filth. Clean everything but the frame. We are a bit late for the salty road filth, so maybe squirt it with a bit of brine. Leave it out in the sun and rain. This will add a satisying patina to any surface, at least it’s done to almost everything I own.

I do hope that the improving weather and warmth are helping a bit. It’s making me itchy to get out and ride.

The cork thing sounds like a
The cork thing sounds like a great idea, you probably don’t need the full half, just enough of a segment to level off the curve in the light. I’m thinking that cutting up a silicon or rubber bung might be more permanent and satisfying, but then those things are a nightmare to cut and drill.
Ohh, and pictures of the eventual solution would be much appreciated.

I would also like to point
I would also like to point out that the vast majority of speed cameras have their locations posted online, satnavs give automatic warnings when you approach them, they are very well signposted, there are measurement markings on the road where they take their pictures and they are brightly coloured. If speeding motorists do not notice any of these things, and still getting caught, they really aren’t paying enough attention to what they are doing.

I’m not into burglars making
I’m not into burglars making the laws that are relevant to burglary, moped robbers defining the laws surrounding street robbery or paedophiles having anything to do with the legislation concerning their disgusting acts.
If I may make a prediction, this year, speeding motorists will kill more children than paedophiles.

Knife crime too.
Knife crime too.
I believe that the fine should be set as a proportion of income, as several othe countries do, may just act as more of a deterent. And no insurance should be several years of minimum premium, not as at present less than one.
