Good find CXR94Di2.  I think you probably need to find a mate who is running the size tyres on the rims you would like to use and pop them in just to see, or a very nice LBS.  I would find it a difficult to justify and possibly expensive experiment.  Or start with second hand rims.

You can still get narrow tyres for 26 inch rims.

I have started proofreading my comments using Word, so I discovered my previous comment for the post.  So here was my deleted comment (no swearing)

I suppose I am not alone in taking my cycling proficiency test when I was younger, didn’t stop me being run over too many times, by people who had presumably had far more training and testing than I to control their over powerful and overheavy motor vehicles.

Oddly 8th gear is the noisy one, I think maybe that the LBS may have put the cables back to front, gear 1 is fastest and 14 for the big hills, makes little difference mind.  I expected a 1000 mile break in, but it’s not too noisy.

    Well done for flagging up

Well done for flagging up this story 2Loose.  A good positive peice from local news, often rare.  If only the LDTA (London) might do something similar.

I occasionally see a group of blokes getting cycle training near me, from their look I presumed truckers, could just be me stereotyping but…

Gave the Rohloff build a shakedown ride to the Hardwick Veg Shack this afternoon, it’s weirdly noisy, different noises in different gears when pedaling, and also different noises in different gears when freewheeling too.  Nothing too loud though, thank goodness.

Some hubs are noisy, I understand that Chris King’s are exceptionally loud, yet everything he makes is proper good.
