I have two wheelsets in the fleet ordered via Ali Express, a XC and a 42mm road bike pair. They were supplied by Speedsafe Carbon Bike store. You can specify which hub you want – I had Novatec. They have been on for a few years now, so far so good.

These handsome beasties live in the field on my regular loop. On this winter trip they found bliss in my studded tyres, which were both scratchy and salty.
Further up is bigger herd which have a habit of just standing in the trail, forcing the timid cyclist to mince around a bog to get past without causing alarm.

I was delayed by 90 minutes on my way back from Antur Stiniog*
*89’50” of that was on the M56, but imagine how much quicker I would have been if I could swerve through Llanrwst at 30.

I really liked that artwork, but I only ever saw it from a very safe distance!

The only bike I still have
The only bike I still have with rim brakes is my old (20yrs+) road bike. It is harder to stop in the wet than my disc braked CX bike (with road tyres on in the summer). By harder I mean I have to squeeze the levers harder, it is more difficult to stop from the hoods. The only reason it doesn’t eat rims much now is I take something else out in anything other than dry sunny conditions.
My MTB of the same vintage ate its rim going down a wet and gritty descent of Doctorsgate. I changed to disks immediately afterwards. No MTB these days has rim brakes – MTB riders are rather less sentimental about the old days!Rim brakes may arguably be slightly lighter, and they certainly make your bike lighter over time as they grind away at one of the most expensive and safety critical components of the machine. I would agree that they are often quieter, although the loud bang from an exploding wheel is annoying to your fellow riders.

We use them at our go-ride
We use them at our go-ride club. For those taking part in youth clusters or track development sessions with BC, it is part of the programme. I agree that they are rather niche though, and there are many more users for turbos.

My daughter had one go on her
My daughter had one go on her MTB the same way, although in that case it was a SRAM chain. I counted 17 cracked links. If I was back in the aerospace biz I would have had it tested to see if the heat treatment on the plates had been missed.

Bus drives into shop. Later in the article we learn the driver was taken to hospital, and the bus has since recovered.

Token do some good square
Token do some good square taper bottom brackets, I have three on the family Islabikes. The bearings needed to be replaced after a couple of seasons of cyclocross abuse, but that’s to be expected.

Heard the demolition noise of this whilst getting the kids ready for school. No evidence of any attempt at braking before or during crash, the driver was just surfing the crushed car until the church wall stopped him. Was out of the cab and on his phone immediately afterwards.

VW also has Front Assist,
VW also has Front Assist, with radar:
“The city emergency brake function is active in urban traffic at speeds up to 19 miles per hour. If you don’t brake enough Front Assist boosts the braking pressure to prevent a collision. And if you don’t brake at all Front Assist automatically steps in and does it for you.”

Lots of local media owned by the same outfits. Newsquest has everything from the Alloa Advertiser to Yeovil Express, so quite likely to be using the same clickbait.
