I saw this story expanded on
I saw this story expanded on somewhere – there’s a row of parking spaces further back at 90 degrees to the track. Someone commented “look at that flimsy old iron fence – that’s not going to hold a car back, is it?” Or some such.

He had his hazards on – why didn’t you say this earlier??
‘Adam Hopkins, who manages Cycles UK in the city, saw the vehicle while walking his dog this morning.
“It was quite gloomy and it was the flashing hazard lights which caught my attention.’

“david9694 also asked for three instances of failing to unclip to be taken into consideration when determining sentence”
we’re again talking elsewhere about instances where a cyclist has died, but the driver that hit them gets no jail time.
This idiot managed, fortunately, not to hurt anyone:
https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/18789614.man-sped-eastleigh-jailed-southampton-crown-court/
The judge said: “I have come to the conclusion that the dangerous driving was so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence is appropriate.
He jailed him for 16 months. When he is released on licence he will be disqualified from driving for two-years.”

I did a new build with 6800s
I did a new build with 6800s and found it hard to get the exact information as to the flange size – IIRC, it’s a couple of mm bigger than 6700 for which information is available e.g. on the edd calculator.

has Road.CC stopped beating
has Road.CC stopped beating its wife?
smoking and cars are two things I feel strongly about – smoking continues, despite a litany of health risks, expense and scruffy doorways – the advantage seems quite tiny. (I’m always surprised by the level of compliance there is with the indoor smoking ban.)
With cars, at least there is a benefit to the user, but otherwise it’s a heap of collective disadvantages, which has now been around long enough on such a scale that no-one can see, or wants to see, that it’s a problem, or that things don’t have to be this way and it could be different.
Cycling is all advantages on a staggering exponential scale and the only disadvantages are punctures and SPDs that don’t unclip at the vital moment.
So it really grinds my 10s gears to read on here, here, my safe space in which to say “aren’t cars /drivers terrible?” Things like “cars are great, more cars” and “you should get out the way of cars”, “drivers’ lives matter”, etc.

I daren’t step on the scales
I daren’t step on the scales either – that is a fair bit to put on your wheels – do you carry much cargo too? I can see this model at £550 – is that correct? That’s on the modest side, tbh.
What other issues have you had? cables always stretch a bit from new which can play havoc with indexed gears; random bolts come undone in the first 200 miles.
It’s possible the wheels haven’t been put together very well – spokes should generally go “ping” at around the same pitch when plucked – it may be “pong” on the drive side of the rear. They should all feel pretty tight – but it’s a dark art how tight – and there shouldn’t be any loose ones.
You can true them yourself, if they are a bit out, with a spoke key.

The tinpot organisations that
The tinpot organisations that “run” the New Forest really do my head in some times. There’s a lot of anti-cycling sentiment generally*, but the animals go on dying and yet you hear no anti-car sentiment. Don’t blame the visitors either – this goes on all through the winter months as well. They could push for an an average speed zone on the B3078, but they don’t.
I’d have thought it would be near impossible to disguise a car that had been involved in an animal collision, when you arrive home or when it comes to getting it repaired.“Speaking at a recent meeting of the Verderers Court he said a driver who failed to stop after hitting a pony had been banned from the roads for six months.
The motorist was convicted of failing to stop after the collision on the B3078 Roger Penny Way, which links Brook and Godshill.”
