    Their interaction with

Their interaction with customers isn’t great – I wanted to run my Hunt wheels on a frame with horizontal drop-outs.  The typre of skewers they offer arent strong enough, so I had to do some off-brand swapping around – but the response from Hunt was to the effect that this was my hard cheese.

Of course what’s really happening is that they could provide more parking but they don’t so they can get the fines income.  It’s the same with the speeding fines, and seat belts: if they were compulsory, they’d be fitted to every – oh.

Bournemouth weekend car-fest. I wonder if this is what the Council meant when it said it had a plan for this summer.

    No buildings harmed AFAIK.

Let’s not be “driven” off the the roads. Very well put, Matthew. I’m more concerned about the unseen many who don’t even start. Turn up at a country park and see families hauling bikes by car, longing to cycle somewhere safely.

I’m fortunate in that I can chose when I cycle, although I mostly limit myself to about three principal routes. Weekday mornings when I’m not working are great, as as early evenings at this time of year – drivers have all gone home.

Have started running a cheaper camera in recent weeks. Currently I’m as concerned about cars I meet running me off the road as I am about close passes.

Ha ha! The man is more

Ha ha! The husband is more concerned about damage to the bike than to his lady wife! I wonder if this might be the original of this oft-told joke?

Really makes me wish I could draw; this next one (above) is more on my level, illustration wise…

Do you want to die alone happily ? No. Buy a car.

I reckon I’m starting to see some pretty robust fencing going up here and there.  Are we getting to a point where you’re not safe in your own home in an increasing number of places?

Once the cranks are off, then

Once the cranks are off, then it’s one of these. It looks like it’s a Shimano copy, but check the number of splines is the same – your first photo looks like between 9 and 10 o’clock there’s a bigger gap.

If it’s standard English BSA threads, it’s the opposite of pedals – the right hand side is a left hand thread. You’ve probably got a sealed unit in there – check how smooth it’s running – you could replace it if it’s old.

The bottom bracket may need some welly, e.g. setting up in a vice if it’s stiff – just don’t end up doing yourself or your bike a nasty. A Replacement Shimano unit like UN 300 should be right – the width of the body should be 68 mm for a road bike, and you need to check the spindle length.

Creaks are one of cycling’s mysteries and can be coming from a range of places, and they only usually occur when you’re underway so locating them can be tricky.

Nothing is ever a driver’s fault, cars will be cars.  For once, the good grace of an apology In person. At what point does this house become de facto uninhabitable and uninsureable?
