When I see a Jimny, I always think what a fun person the driver must be. “Look at me, so out there and fun”, they seem to say.

more e-scooter pearl clutching over in leafy Bath.  If only cars were geo-fenced/ regulated to this degree!

Whatever her real motivations are, and there seems to be a dispute on the facts of which is the steepest hill out the 3 routes to the university, at least Cllr Wright identifies the principal source of the danger:

“Widcombe Hill is a dangerous hill for e-scooter users because of mixing at the low speed of 12.5mph with larger, faster-moving motorised vehicles, in combination with steepness, parked cars…”

If only they could accelerate out of harm!

One of my early builds, a Planet X Viner just would not settle down in the headset dept. The inside of the steerer was non-standard, a star just passes through it, and then if was either too stiff, or there was play.

Enter this beast, the head tube ends reamer and 1″ and 1 1/8″ ream.

I also got one of these for seatpost reaming.  Getting past the the extent of my technical knowledge, ovalisation, etc but when you’re having seatpost trouble (in 0.2mm increments) a bit of vernier-guided action from this can help and you’re less inclined to get scratches and gouges on your seatpost too.

    Are you sure that’s not

Are you sure that’s not another headset press? It looks enormous.

if it really is a b/b press then my comment was going to be “unlike the clunk you get pedalling”?

Mine wouldn’t cope with a head tube you might get at over 24″ size.

Aaaah, chain wear and the quest for the longest lived chain on the internet.  If that is where your head is at you might wanna go back to 8s.  10s from Decathlon for £15, go-fast versions: double the number you thought of.

When I fix a repair cafe donation, it often fails this checker test – replacements at 6 or 7s level are only £5 or £6 but if I do one, will it then need new cogs – rear cogs also not that dear, but then there wont be any profit in the bike.  I test ride it, the shifting is fine.

    PS Really, Mr Halfords/YBN?

    So in the fictional movie,

So in the fictional movie, the space vehicle runs empty to Mars (a genuine expected  life support system failure) and NASA send out faked signals from it from sort of Hanger 18 set-up in the desert to keep the dream alive, etc.

Journalist Elliot Gould’s technician buddy starts to notice the signal mis-match and he is disappeared – which helps puts Gould on to the story of the faked space trip. Then the empty space craft has another mishap, fatal, and the astronauts now realise they are in effect dead.

imagine a small boy watching this stuff on the big screen absolutely blown away!

    Some Headset tools. Crown

Some Headset tools. Crown race remover and setter, headset press. No pictured are the 1″ and 1 1/8″ drifts for knocking out non-integrated cups.

You can fashion a home made press easily enough, but I’d urge anyone tackling a star nut, or a crown race to get hold of these tools and avoid the hammer/ screwdriver / bit of old pipe route if you want to: (I) keep the skin on the backs of your hands (ii) not chip your paintwork (iii) set the crown race properly.

Tell me you run rim brakes…

Third hand for closing brake callipers and a fourth hand for vigorous cable tensioning. Also works on derailleur cables e.g. if you’re setting up with brifters.

Needle nosed pliers have a wide range of uses and I have a few mini pairs in saddlebags.

“and that’s why e-scooters should be banned”, says no-one (so far) in the article comments. If ever this thread of ours had a point beyond the “share the road”  gallows humour, maybe it’s a story like this one.

Two women lark about on an e scooter late at night, hit a wall, fall over – The End. As Jenni remarks, no fire brigade cutting them free, no builder to shore up a hole, no tow truck, ambulance or police.

One we can all relate and

One we can all relate and cannot have enough of, the 6, 5 and 4mm Allen key. The 6 is is only for seat posts and quill stems, the 4mm is for the things that aren’t 5mm.  One in each coat pocket.
