Resident thinks Brixham road closure will be disastrous for these eight reasons

Kate Graeme-Cook, former holiday let landlord, weighs-in albeit a little late in the day.

If only there was some other means of moving goods and people in and out of Brixham.

South West Water van trapped as Tidal Road claims another vehicle

One local resident said this type of thing happens ‘quite often’

EDIT I can’t from a drive through on Google find the location with certainty, but it looks like mr south west water has got through most of the road and failed at – I suspect – the village end.

I like how there are boats in the background – there ought to be a cheery fish spurting up some water and maybe a crab nipping his ankles.

I wondered if that was Mr AA – going the extra mile, if so. Maybe standing orders say he always has to check under the bonnet?

Mind you, I have been working on a similar device to run off my Dynamo that makes the exact sound the clutch in an Audi makes when it’s about to fail. Available soon.

expensive tools, I get that, but insurance? In relation to the jobs you mention?

    servicing Shimano pedals.

Rubbing down an old frame – some put up more of a fight than others, some have more surface rust than others. Dust everywhere and it can go on a bit, but nice when the end is in sight.

Victory over stuck b/b cups and freewheels – now I have a workshop vice.

Isn’t the “point” that the ambulance had overtaken him previously?  3 years ban seems way too short.

“Butler was described as a ‘nasty piece of work’ and ‘aggressive’ by neighbours at his former home in Rainham, Essex.

One neighbour, who gave her name only as Christine, told MailOnline: ‘He’s a nasty piece of work that man.

‘He would stand across the road staring at us and waving his fists at us over nothing.

‘One day he threw a plastic block at me.’”

Small dose of karma for arrogant driver who wouldn’t let ambulance go past

Sainsbury’s shoppers not happy at 50p charge in petrol stations

Although the charge per minute, 10p, is still the same, it marks a 20p, or 66%, overall rise in the service with customers being forced to pay for two extra minutes

Sainsbury’s has upped the minimum cost of pumping up tyres at its supermarket petrol stations to 50p.

Although they aren’t the first to do this – ASDA, Tesco and Morrisons are already charging 50p for the service – loyal devotees to the ‘Sains’ brand have taken to social media to express their outrage at the new price hike.

Drivers who want to pump up their tyres will now be charged 50p for five minutes, with the service having previously costed [SIC] 30p for three minutes.

    I’ve seen road closure signs

I’ve seen road closure signs our for Remembrance Day in one nearby town.

To recap, RBL issued new guidance on parades.  Not sure what’s changed as regards the police.  What I am working towards here is “How cars stole the Remembrance Day Parade”

A local authority led TTMO takes 12 weeks to do.  Having been involved in this in the past as a manager, I know people all quick to blame the council, so it was usually my team nudging the RBL people in the summer about getting things in place in good time for November.

    https://counties.britishlegion.org.uk/media/6540234/200821-remembrance-parades-policy-update-final.pdf

“A serious road accident at a 2018 parade focused attention on how serious the consequences of a road traffic accident can be for the victims and those close to them. In this case, the accident left a supporter with life changing injuries. The accident also drew attention to the burden of cost such an accident can have, with claims for damages often running into the tens of millions of pounds. In this case, the Legion has benefitted from the support of its insurers. However, those insurers have made it clear that the approach to TTMOs must be more formal and, in future, all branches must adhere to the policy.”

“TRBL and its volunteers must not engage in the deployment, management or removal of any TTMO. This includes, for example, placing barriers, directing traffic or driving vehicles that are involved in the TTMO.”

Remembrance Day Parade in Port Talbot will not be taking place this year after ‘shift in the stance of police forces towards security’

    https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/remembrance-day-parade-port-talbot-25402979

From the Clevedon article above: There has been no change to the advice this year. A Royal British Legionspokesperson said: “The Royal British Legion does not expect or allow its volunteers to organise remembrance parades and we regularly remind branches that local parades are organised by local councils who have the expertise and legal knowledge to deploy road closures and other safety measures.

“Local parades are civic functions that are attended and supported by the Royal British Legion, not RBL events supported by civic authorities.”
